Two books in progress:

  • Deep Work by Cal Newport, and
  • Tress of the Emerald Sea& by Brandon Sanderson

I'm going to try make some progress on them at least this weekend but there's a bunch of things going on with life stuff. Boy do I miss having nothing to do but read.

Thinking of getting Chained Echoes on an Apple Silicon Mac. Has anyone tried it on an Apple Silicon Mac? Love to know if it plays well.

Interesting. Seems to be an alternative front end to YouTube. That's as far as my research went.

Yeah! It was fun learning about its term “supercooled liquid”

Edit: I stand corrected for my education. It was still fun learning about that term from my teacher at the time.

Glass is an "amorphous solid"

Damn. You’re e streets ahead

I wish I was more tech savvy to have the foresight for future tech applications. I’m already a dev damnit but I can usually only focus on the now or the immediate future.

How widespread was the concept of federation is the beforetimes of 2016?

I got Hades and Dark Souls during the sale and been playing Hades mostly, finally made it to Asphodel first the second time ever.

Playing on the Switch is so much better for me. Loving the separation to play on the Switch away from my desk+laptop.

I know this is a Windows release but I guess for my limited use 2 cents with DuckDuckGo (DDG) browser for macOS:

  • It is enjoyable and quick to use.

  • No extensions but with its protections feature, there are no ads?

    • However, compared to Firefox with my extensions setup, vanilla YouTube on DDG is way more crowded and distracting.
  • Duck Player plays YouTube videos without trackers and ads.

    • But it does take you to another page. No biggie for me though.
  • Haven't used its fire proofing feature yet (a white list for saved accounts/passwords to prevent being cleared after using the Fire button feature)

Now, I wouldn't use it as my main daily driver. That's still Firefox, most probably because of my custom firefox css, bookmarks, and extensions setup (especially containers).

But I do use DDG browser once in a while, I guess to just have that fresh feeling of trying the new shiny thing (or just something out different from the regular daily routine). I use it almost like a tor browser-lite, after every session I'm done with using DDG, I click the Fire button/"Clear browsing history".

Might try it for an extended trial for some tasks but I'm using it to exclusively browse the federated communities and as an article reader for focus to mentally separate from the multi-tasking, less than 50 total tabs, hell that is Firefox at the moment.

As a, primarily mobile developer, my own MacBook Air (MBA) and it's the M2 version.

I do get provided with MacBook Pros (MBP) for work but there's always that advice of separating your own stuff from work stuff. And I wanted to start doing my own stuff and experimenting with beta stuff and the like without messing up the stable dev environment for work. Even though I did consider shelling out for the MBP for more power, I think I valued portability more and the MBA was just way lighter and so far, all the stuff I'm tinkering with are relatively light weight or the M2 just handles it just fine.

Also the act of switching hardware physically gives me a good separation of life/hobby from work, especially not having access to my work code and environment which gives a bit of anxiety, just like the aura of being around work doesn't make me relaxed.

Quite surprised that RIF and Reddit made agreement for revenue sharing.

Not surprised in a revelation kind of way but just find these business doings interesting.
