I know! By the time she came out with her Ripper stuff, I wasn't into her anymore. I watched the show she made about it though.
OMG! That's one of the worst ones, as far as being gore filled. I learned about the body farm and that it's a real place from that book.
That is definitely NOT the book you'd normally give if your were trying to impress. ๐คฃ
I've read a lot of her stuff and you either really like her or you don't. There's no middle ground.
I picked up a book called "Triggerfish Twist" by Tim Dorsey.
Had never heard of this guy, had never read any of his books, didn't know the book was in the middle of the series (I do this a lot finding new authors), but I liked the cover art, so I bought it. I read it in 1 day on a 4 hr. car trip. I couldn't put it down! It's the only book I've ever read that fast.
It's about a serial killer names Serge, and all the weird and crafty ways/reasons he comes up with to kill people. It is so damn funny, I had to go and get all the other books of series. I don't want to give anything away, but there is a side plot with a bunch of crooked old ladies called the E-Team. They have some of the best exploits of the book.
I tried reading the Hobbit years before it was a movie. Couldn't get through the first chapter. Even tried watching the cartoon Hobbit movie that was made in the 70's. Hated it.
Fast forward. Saw the movies and thought, "Ok. I REALLY like this, I think I'll try reading the books again". I ate them up. Couldn't read them fast enough.
I like both the movies and the books. This is the first time I liked both mediums equally. (I've gotta read the books again.)
