Apple has me brainwashed because I really be feeling like my workouts don’t count if I didn‘t have my Apple Watch on. Arrived at the gym and realized I left my watch, so I went back to get it. in c/apple@hardware.watch

This is normal behaviour, same with headphones. But if you forget a towel, play on.
