Depends on your use case but in general, I would recommend 13' Air M2 design over any of the 13 Pro design (which is really dated and was even dropped recently).
Both those devices are 8gb ram and for regular every day usage.

Not worth it tbh. Personally, I would go around finding a used M series. There's probably good deals out there.
RAM wins all the time when you compare 8 gb to 16 gb. It doesn't matter how old the model is.
That's not true from 16 gb though. But 8 gb to 16 gb, more RAM just wins.
Edge. No questions.
Edge being based off Chromium has access to all of Chrome.
And Edge has vertical tab support which is such a beauty (grouping, etc).
Also, Edge has copilot and split screen (you can have 2 windows on in 1 windows).
And it's more battery and memory efficient than Chrome.

If you get it fixed from Apple? Probably extortion.
Maybe you can ask Louis Rossmann about it when he streams on Youtube. Or message his workplace. Guy is super legit when it comes to repairs (just go through his videos). Best to check prices at multiple places.
It's probably something stupidly simple like one of your cables being loosely linked. If you don't know better, repair shops overcharge you.
16 gb Air. Teachers don't need compute power. Portability is best.
