People were searching the day before the election to see if Biden was still in the race. Some people were stoked, far more stupid.

Appeasement has never failed us. Apart from every time we've tried it.

Yup, Missouri voted to allow abortion again. It isn't much either, another small win. That was completely negated when they overwhelmingly voted for the man that will ban it nationally.

I think it's important to point out that this is more terrifying than it looks on the face of it. Think about it for a minute. Mass text messages going out in multiple Municipal areas harassing women of color. This ain't your grandpappies racists. Your Average bigoted Yokel doesn't have access to the technology to do that or the information to do that. And seeing as the FBI is on the table to be gutted soon. I don't expect much from the investigation. And even if something comes out and they try to claim it is a single isolated person with administrator access at one of the major carriers. I would consider them more Patsy than anything. That a company would play fast and loose with that kind of access and data. Is a company that shouldn't be allowed to exist. This should be a wake-up call to everyone to get their privacy fucking sorted. The Gestapo is watching.

They did. The media did. We can argue that neither said it often enough or loud enough. But ultimately people in general just didn't care to listen either way. The information was out there. But people stuck with their propaganda.

Since when have laws stopped, or for that matter slowed the trump administration

Aaaah Cuban expats. Welcomed with open arms often getting to jump the line. So much hardship. So much effort. So much privilege and entitlement.

I dunno. Not saying that wasn't important. It absolutely was and we should all be ashamed that it was allowed to stand. But I think the end of democracy. Not hyperbole. This is what will happen and they've already promised to happen should they win. Will be more significant. The appointment of bush absolutely directly led to this. But I still think this will be slightly more significant. As outright fascism becomes the order of the day.

The only problem with that is. The fascist Republicans have largely and effectively mined out that silver vein over the last 100 years. It does still exist at least. And it's definitely far better than a kick in the teeth. But as someone eligible for it in roughly 15 years. It's not going to count for much. People already on it are falling back into poverty and struggling to survive as is. Plus they're getting ready to cut payments not increase. Possibly even canceling outright for many should Trump and Republicans win office again. That's why it's a short-term Victory realistically speaking.

A fresh single and video off their upcoming third album Pendulum. I can't recommend this Duo from Texas enough. Their previous albums have been extremely solid for me.

The greatest show unearthed returns with a brand new single perfectly timed for the season. But who are we kidding. Every day is Halloween.

What is Post-punk (en.wikipedia.org)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Eldritch@lemmy.world to c/postpunk@lemmy.world

Post-punk is a diverse genre that emerged from the cultural milieu of punk rock in the late 1970s. Originally called "new musick", the terms were first used by various writers in the late 1970s to describe groups moving beyond punk's garage rock template and into disparate areas. Sounds writer Jon Savage already used "post-punk" in early 1978. NME writer Paul Morley also stated that he had "possibly" invented the term himself. At the time, there was a feeling of renewed excitement regarding what the word would entail, with Sounds publishing numerous preemptive editorials on new musick. Towards the end of the decade, some journalists used "art punk" as a pejorative for garage rock-derived acts deemed too sophisticated and out of step with punk's dogma. Before the early 1980s, many groups now categorized as "post-punk" were subsumed under the broad umbrella of "new wave", with the terms being deployed interchangeably. "Post-punk" became differentiated from "new wave" after their styles perceptibly narrowed.

The genera itself being foundationally typified by groups such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Wire, Public Image Ltd, the Pop Group, Cabaret Voltaire, Magazine, Pere Ubu, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Devo, Gang of Four, the Slits, the Cure, and the Fall. But not limited to. And has spun off many sub genera such as alternative rock, dark-wave, cold-wave, synth-wave, synth-pop, and some indie rock
