I agree with you on all points, and the episode in question is a pop culture reference ridden pile of garbage, but the shut up and take my money meme does actually come from that episode. It's not a reenactment

I use davinci for editing and find it far more enjoyable than premiere. If davinci's vfx tab was more powerful, then I wouldn't leave the program at all

It becomes a whole other can of worms when you start taking film photography. I just spent $1000 on a new medium format camera lol

Hey that's me!

It's definitely a struggle, I just got into a big conversation with my partner trying to communicate what it's like. We decided it was somewhat futile in the end, like describing colours to a blind person

I think I stumbled upon the term somewhere online at some point, and realized it described me. It just made a bunch of stuff click into place. I look back on times now where I was able to visualize colours and patterns in my head while high listening to music and thought I was hallucinating a lot differently now lol. Turns out that's just what most people can normally do

Oh God, I didn't even think about ”can't unsee" being literal. That was a mind fuck for me just now

Relaxing is a great way to put it. It feels like meeting up with some friends at the park and hanging out. Just shooting the shit until the street lights come on

As a "reddit refuge" I agree with this. I showed up on Lemmy a few days before the blackout, and even that small amount of time has been enough to notice a difference. I know people are hoping to recreate the things about reddit they love/miss here, but I really hope it doesn't become a carbon copy of that place. Like many have said, I didn't feel the urge to engage on reddit since it just felt a bit pointless, no one was gonna read it. Here I've felt like I can actually have good conversations with people, and have been doing so. Ultimately things will be what they will be, but I hope we can maintain that friendly community feel for a while longer.

I definitely feel this, like I love the Lord of the Rings, but Tolkien's 2 page scene descriptions are really difficult to pay attention to lol. Something I've actually found to be really good for this is reading plays. They typically don't contain much scene description, and mostly focus on dynamics between characters

As someone with Aphantasia it can be a bit of a challenge to get into a book. Unlike that post about staring at paper and hallucinating, they really are just words on a page for me. Despite this, I've still managed to maintain my love of reading throughout my life, but I won't lie, it can be very difficult to choose a book over other mediums of entertainment at times. Does anyone else go through this as well? What do you do to help engross yourself in a story when there isn't a mental movie to pull you in?

This happens to me all the time, often I'll zone out until the end of a paragraph before I realized what's happened. Nice to know it's fairly common, I've always chalked it up to aphantasia or adhd
