So Secretary of State Raffensperger's lawyer sent a pretty scathing letter to the State Election Board saying, you really shouldn't change these rules.

Ooh! Scathing!

Okay, I'm not watching that video but holy crap, some of the comments under it are great.

Edit: I assumed those were new comments, but they're not. They've been roasting this knucklehead for years.

“I guess they are trying to prepare for the 2024 elections? I don’t see how this stands – if the [board of elections] has no choice but to certify an election, then why require them to vote to certify the election?”

How can you be this stupid? The law says "Shall Certify" (at least for now...)Certification is simply signing off that you've done your job and added up the numbers for your county correctly. The law is not saying you can choose to not certify the election if you think something is wrong. It is saying to get your damn job done by November 12th or you are in violation of the law.

All these people want to do is tie things up long enough that the SCOTUS feels that they can step in and choose a winner, just like in 2000.

Christian end timers. They believe that before Jesus can come back and take them all to heaven, the world needs to go to shit. All the Jews need to go back to Israel and the rest of the world has to go through the Tribulation, a time of suffering so great that without divine intervention, no one will survive.

It's not that they are literally trying to bring about the end of the world. They just don't care how much damage they do because they think it's supposed to happen anyway.

This is what I think needs to be pointed out more often. He is a former Trump supporter who feels betrayed by Trump's actions in office. A former cult member woke up and realized that Trump was a threat to the nation. Of course, being a former cult member, and lacking the strongest of connections with reality, he decided that hiding in the bushes and trying to shoot him was a reasonable solution.

The article however says, "Routh’s past online posts suggest the suspect has not been consistent about his politics in terms of supporting Democrats or Republicans."

All these articles are trying to say he wasn't really a Republican or a Democrat and trying to run cover for the GOP. But that's not true. The fact is that he's a former Trump supporter, a former Republican, who realized that Trump was full of shit but he still had a head full of the GOP's and Trump's violent rhetoric. Being a consistent supporter of one party or the other is irrelevant. This had nothing to do with Democrats and everything to do with the GOP and Trump promoting violence and availability of deadly weapons like the one he used.

The only part that shocks me, well, puzzles me really, is that the potential shooter knew where and when to be at the club when there was nothing on Trump's schedule saying he would be there.

If only they would run for Congress rather than screwing around every four years and knocking over the table.

Well of course it's going to get worse. One of the parties will not allow even moderate, reasonable gun legislation. Every former Trump supporting loon with a grudge can get a gun with no problem.

Alternative headline: Trump finally tells the truth about something.

Republicans, in one of the more moronic takes of the election season, say that if Biden is too old to run for office, then he's too old to hold the office and should resign.

Fulton County prosecutors filed an emergency request for a protective order in the Georgia election subversion case on Tuesday after recorded statements made by multiple defendants as part of their plea deals were made public.

On Monday, ABC News and The Washington Post published footage of the proffer sessions, which showed the four defendants who pleaded guilty being questioned by prosecutors about their involvement in various efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Prosecutors said the footage was turned over to the remaining defendants as part of discovery, urging the court to impose restrictions on how the defendants can disclose the materials.

“The release of these confidential video recordings is clearly intended to intimidate witnesses in this case, subjecting them to harassment and threats prior to trial, constitutes indirect communication about the facts of this case with codefendants and witnesses, and obstructs the administration of justice, in violation of the conditions of release imposed on each defendant,” prosecutors wrote in their motion.

To prevent further disclosure, prosecutors said they will not provide videos of any proffer sessions to defendants moving forward.

“Instead, defendants must come to the District Attorney’s Office to view confidential video recordings of proffers. They may take notes, but they will be prohibited from creating any recordings or reproductions,” prosecutors wrote in the filing.

Last weekend, an auction held at his Florida home saw the item, described as "a one of a kind Trump Glock from the 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump," go up for bidding during a charity event. Pictures circulating on social media show the gun being presented at the auction, with news website Meidas Touch saying that bidding for the item began at $10,000.

However, the transaction could land the former U.S. president in considerable trouble, given that federal law prohibits those under indictment from transacting firearms. Trump is embroiled in active legal proceedings, having testified at a civil trial over the New York investigation into financial fraud at the Trump Organization. The former president has denied all wrongdoing and repeatedly said that the ongoing federal and civil cases against him are part of a political witch hunt.
