We all love birbs and it is up to us to make sure that crimes committed against humanity by our feathery friends are recorded for posterity. The overall goal of this community is to provide a safe place to post and discuss the most criminal elements of the sky: smol birbs.
Sometimes warblers don't care how close you are. This one was probably ten feet away. They are truly smol, and I like to crop my photos.

Great shot! With that much resolution you could probably crop in a little tighter. Filling the frame with more of your subject will help emphasize how small the bird really is compared to the branch. Plus, more birb is always better.
I like to leave some habitat because I find it adds interest and complexity to a photo. Plus, sometimes the birb no longer appears smol if so focused in the photo! I've gotten more comfortable with even more distant shots of birbs, too--sometimes I can make raptors look illegally smol.
Totally fair! I did a pretty extreme crop on a spider photo I took a few years back, and that started my "fill the frame with the subject" mentality. With respect to the rule of thirds of course. 😅
I definitely have my fair share of close crops, especially herps! I also posted a close crop (because it was just that close) of a brown-capped rosy finch to the wildlife photography community today too.
