What is geoscience?

Geoscience (also called Earth Science) is the study of Earth. Geoscience includes so much more than rocks and volcanoes, it studies the processes that form and shape Earth's surface, the natural resources we use, and how water and ecosystems are interconnected. Geoscience uses tools and techniques from other science fields as well, such as chemistry, physics, biology, and math! Read more...

These crazy doomers say its to late to prevent massive global wildfires and heatwaves and flooding and increased severe storm activity (tornadoes, hurricanes, and just catastrophic storms). We need to ignore all these debbie and danny downers and look to how we utilize coal to absorb and sequester tiny fractions of carbon from the atmosphere well with renewables while we otherwise burn coal for energy anyways.

Bb..but, we're already seeing and doing all of those things.

I can see how this would be a take based on the headline alone, but he didn't say ignore climate change, he said ignore "apocalyptic messaging [that] merely 'paralyses' the public and fails to motivate them to protect the planet."

I think it’s the opposite. The more doomer we get, the more change is likely to happen.

Climate doomerism is funded by big oil using the same people that did positive smoking PR for tobacco lobbiests. The problem is it makes most people throw up their hands and continue as is because they feel like they can't change anything.

I may just be speaking for myself. But as a doomer, it motivates me. It may not for others. Most doomers I talk to have one goal- make fossil fuel companies pay. I find that inspiring. I believe collapse of society is inevitable due to capitalism and climate. More like a crumbling. It’s already started.
