I’ll need this joke explained because I don’t get it.

I know Galileo supposedly said, “And yet it moves” and this is obviously a lotr riff on that, but I don’t get it.

Well, in case you haven't seen it, in this scene, Elrond is telling Isildur to throw the one ring in the lava of mount Doom, destroying it, but Isildur replies "No".

Presumably this is making a parallel with how the church told Galileo to reject the theory of heliocentrism and (although he did) he supposedly still defied them with this phrase.
