There are a few flavors of paganism that blend in Christianity, most notably Santería. Personally I really don't like it. Paganism is an anathema to christians (Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live (exodus 22:18)) Christians are also responsible for wiping out pagan religions all over the world and the only reason the persecution has stopped is because of government intervention. I'm not going to argue with anyone over what they believe but I do choose not to hang out with "pagan Christians."

Not exactly sure what you mean by root workers, if you're talking Hoodo it does incorporate some Islam but I really don't know much about it. Plant magic is used in just about every flavor of pagan I can think of though.
