Does anyone know of any songs that are similar to "Stella was a diver and she was always down" by Interpol? Specifically, the second half of the chorus with the heavier bass where the lyrics are just, "she broke away, broke away".

Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but I'm a fan of Interpol and I can give some recs for bands I consider similar, not individual songs.

  • Bloc Party
  • Cage the Elephant
  • Young the Giant

Bell x1 have a similar sound. Their big breakthrough song in Ireland was flame, which has a similar vibe but more polished, closer to pop. Less bass heavy too. But probably not well know outside Ireland. Id also look at Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser chiefs, razor light, all from the same era with a similar sound.
