I love this set and it was probably my favorite set when I was a kid. I'm amazed how only three little parts were missing after almost 30 years. My son immediately started adding stuff to it and while it did hurt a little (lol) I also realized how contemporary Lego isn't inviting anymore to add or change stuff. Everything is so perfect and smooth nowadays with barely any exposed studs.

These were the golden days of Lego!

I just had the hardest hit of nostalgia wave over me. Thanks for sharing!

Oh man I had the same set. I loved the magnet hand...

So many great things about it! The detachable head, the extra pod that has its own compartment in the back, the android mini figure, the detachable arms that can be attached to the head... Such a great playability!

I had this set as a kid, so cool seeing it again.

Oh my goodness! All the mangnetron sets were amazing! I had completely forgotten about how cool these were!

Well shoot. I rebuilt my Renegade Runner from the early 90s recently, but this one is in my top 5 favorites I had as a kid. My kids have had full access to my Lego bricks for multiple years now, so I may be out of luck rebuilding this one but you have inspired me to do so. I know I have the magnets still which I imagine is the hardest piece to source. Looks like I am going to go on a hunt this week!

You can get part lists on the internet. I used this one.

Here's another one where you can even order the single parts right away.

It's one hell of a job, but so satisfying in the end! Good luck!

That's a wonderful piece. I've never seen that one before. Was it a series? Did the theme have a name?

[–] hardypart@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's the Robo-Guardian from the Spyrius theme, a subtheme of the the space theme in the 90s. The set number is 6949.

Yes, nice :D

My first thought was "Wait, they made an M-Tron robot?" But no, this is Spyrius, which reuses the same color scheme with added blue elements.
