This is from 12 days ago, did you just see it?

[–] vala@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah haha, and I noticed it was never posted here.

Just trying to drive some engagement.

Thank you for that!

Need bigger bases. I've only been putting down what is needed to upgrade, and after the breeding station, there's pretty much no room for anything else. That circle is just too fucking small and the things you're building are too big (that breeding station is practically 1/5th the entire size of the base).

Build multiple stories! I was pissed off at this too until I realized that you can just use a slanted wall and a slanted roof to make stairs to multiple floors in your base. Not a perfect solution, but still allows you to put the big structures like the breeding station and the assembly lines out of the way

I probably will once the pathfinding is worked on. Right now, they ignore everything that is below the top floor. :/

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 7 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Yeah, they get stuck on the stairs

[–] zewu@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

I had stairs inside my house because it felt natural and pals got stuck every few minutes and sometimes could not get to the second floor at all. When I turned around the stairs (so they enter the second floor from the outside), everything started to work surprisingly well. Pathfinding is extremely buggy, but sometimes you can (try to) work around its limitations.

I do think it's just some of the pals. The little ones seem to have no problem going through doors or up stairs. But some of them just get stuck in everything. Like the fire Vulpix wannabe. Those things are constantly getting stuck on top of benches, along walls or in rocks. 🤷🏻‍♂️

And the bigger ones in general I don't think fit through doors. I certainly can't ride any of the mounts through 'em.

All the flying ones keep getting stuck on trees, it's annoying

[–] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 3 points 7 months ago

I build a 3 story crafting station and it works surprisingly well. Sometimes no one shows up while still working on it from the floor below, but it's not worse than just having it on the ground floor. Waiting for pathfinding to work could mean a long wait or even a forever wait, vecause ark never figured it out.

Yeah, for now there's a few things that I am still just run manually that I leave inside. I have an annoying issue where packed pals keep clipping through the floor when I place them on a roof tile on a higher floor.

[–] anti_antidote@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Don't they have just stairs? I could've sworn I've built stairs lol

[–] figjam@midwest.social 2 points 7 months ago

There are stairs. I put some in and now everything is floating in the void

[–] thegreekgeek@midwest.social 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

In addition to this they need a universal grid and they need to rework the size of the buildings. We don't need a breeding station with a yard lol

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 points 7 months ago

I wouldn't mind the yard if it put on a show 😏

I agree. A base radius increase would be a good upgrade. It would mean bases would need to be placed further apart to allow for the max radius though.

I feel like the small base size is limited because of over crowding concerns in big MP servers.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

I'm other should make it a part of world options, and/or make it upgradeable as you level up your base.

I was kinda hoping that the area would get bigger the more I leveled up my Palbox, but nope.

[–] vala@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Improved pathfinding sounds nice to me.

[–] TenaciousDad@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

God does it need it. Half the time my pals find themselves outside my base limits just standing idle and stuck and I've got to recall them back before they begin working

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I just want my pals to attack raiders with me while they're still outside of the circle. I throw one out and it runs back to base to work instead of fighting.

[–] vala@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think you need to make an alarm bell.

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

I just want one to fight with me, not all of them. If I throw one directly at an enemy, why doesn't it fight?

[–] sylver_dragon@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I wonder where does a "quit hiding the UI" button fall in that? I mean, the UI isn't some fantastic work of art, but I'd like to be able to see it.

[–] vala@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

I agree. The game needs a "UI Settings" menu where you can:

  • Force the UI to stay on
  • Increase UI size (health bars etc)
  • Disable the tutorial box
