Here's some popular content

They don't even try to show you anything relevant. "Here's some random shit, watch it instead."

[–] variants@possumpat.io 34 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Man I was using Amazon prime because my server was down for maintenance and my search results didn't contain thr words I searched for until much lower in the results, then half the stuff needed extra subscriptions or had ads like what is the point

[–] jjlinux@lemmy.ml 5 points 9 months ago

Same crap as Max and Netflix. It can't be coincidence.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

There's a lot of problems with their service. They're missing a bunch of functionality that a lot of the other streaming platforms have like creating profiles, decent recommendations, and thumbs up/down. You also have to go through 50 iterations of TWD to get to anything, but they don't even have all of it (I'm not a fan, but I know a lot of folks are).

I know they're working on it, but it's definitely not there yet. They got a new head of engineering just a few months ago so I assume we'll start seeing some changes later this year.

Wait... Seriously what? That's literally the only reason to sub to AMC+ is this some kind of weird legal dispute?

[–] freebread@lemm.ee 70 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Netflix has it through February 2025. Same with Better Call Saul, though that was weirder because it was on AMC+ while the final season aired but each episode only stayed up for about 4-5 weeks. Not sure of the rights on El Camino but that's a Netflix original.

[–] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 21 points 9 months ago

I don’t even think AMC holds full rights to breaking bad and better call saul. I think those both lie with Sony, who’s made the shows.

HBO Max removed Westwood. One of their own and most popular shows. Gotta love it (not)

[–] p03locke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

HBO Max removed Westworld because of David Zaslav. That's it.

He has a history of slashing diversity in his companies across the board.

Among the mass cancellations are shows featuring: PoC, women leads, LGBT+ topics and leads, animation, pretty much all of the Republican boogeymen.

“If David Zaslav had his wish, he would just program Chip and Joanna all day long,”

He wants everything to be HGTV and TLC bullshit. He wants to turn CNN into the next Fox News.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 9 months ago

I guess Harley should be extremely popular that didn't got axed.

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

I'm guessing because he's horribly incompetent. I did a cursory Google search and the press is not good. There's even a change.org petition to get him to vacate his position.

[–] SaintWacko@midwest.social 8 points 9 months ago

The last of my media server parts should arrive today.... Yarr

[–] Arcane_Trixster@lemm.ee 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They didn't have most of Walking Dead when we looked into it last year. We would have had to sub to maybe 3 services to get a full rewatch.

[–] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 9 points 9 months ago

Three? That's fucking insane.

[–] Proxima_Centauri11@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, the popular shows are always getting passed around to different streaming services: Dunkey on Streaming Services

[–] Lath@kbin.social 18 points 9 months ago (2 children)

It's Monsieur Spade. And if you must know, I have no idea. Didn't even know the show existed.

[–] Mr_Blott@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No that's a different show. Muenster Spade is a documentary about cheese-based gardening impliments

[–] Grrbrr@sopuli.xyz 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No no, Monster blade is a popular pokemon ripoff.

[–] kat_angstrom@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No no, Munich Bläd is a famous German sitcom about a gang of Friends who have wacky hijinx and occasionally fall in and out of love with eachother

[–] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Wrong again, Munching Blyat is a biopic turned exposé of the various snack foods in Russian corner shops made famous by loud-mouthed Adidas fans of recent years, especially famous for the drunken antics and shouting anthemic protestations on their way to jail.

It's a show about a retired Sam Spade, the detective from the Maltese Falcon.

Because Netflix has the exclusivity to stream Breaking Bad.

[–] Zuberi@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

So many comments could just boil down into ”🏴‍☠️? Yes, 🏴‍☠️"

Overall to me it seems more like:

When streaming services hear the word "sharing":

[–] weirdo_from_space@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That's actually a really good question. Who the fuck is the Muenster Spade?

[–] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

I love Muenster cheese... I love German stuff. Gonna have to check out Muenster Spade. I hope it's good or so bad it's fun.

Update:

Google search and Lemmy is the 3rd result. The first is for Kate Spade and 2nd for dog poop scoop.

Final update: I now realize it's Monsignor Spade. 🤦

Spelling: monsieur spade OMG

[–] nullpotential@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 9 months ago

[–] Gooey0210@sh.itjust.works 15 points 9 months ago

I've seen it airing on my jellyfin

[–] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 11 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Depends on the country. Because obviously

[–] Flaky@iusearchlinux.fyi 4 points 9 months ago

I've always had American friends surprised that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is on Netflix here (UK). Netflix also owned some of the Adult Swim licenses before Channel 4 got the catch-up rights to it.

[–] shalva97@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

well, it's available on my Jellyfin server

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Guess you're going to have to watch to find out.

[–] DeltaTangoLima@reddrefuge.com 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I mean, I'm going to give Monsieur Spade a try. But not because of some shitty streaming service recommendation like this - that's terrible.
