I wasn't going to upvote, just out of spite. Hot dogs? No way. But then I saw that it was hot dogs in brine - you got me, you son of a bitch.

[–] ganksy@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also came in for the brine.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Come for the brine, stay for the blood pressure medication.

[–] 1st@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

OP ignore these salty old dogs

[–] phuntis@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

tinned hot dogs are the worst hotdogs they're like wallpaper paste jarred hot dogs are the far superior option even the ones in a plastic packet are better than tinned also they say hot dogs so it'll be that american rubbish bockwurst makes a far better hot dog that actually tastes like food

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 year ago

Hey did you eat the punctuation with that hot dog

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (4 children)

You're damn right I'll upvote the cheapest source of "meat" I could afford when I was at rock-bottom.

Literally 1 tin of these, tinned vegetables, tinned beans, tomato puree, a bunch of different spices, and served with either pasta or with rice in a pitta bread.

Maybe some stolen sauces from McDonald's for dipping.

And for dessert, a hand rolled cigarette with used filters and second hand tobacco because this is the only hot meal for the day and life fucking sucked.

upped for stolen sauces. rice and stolen taco bell packets kept me from starving back when 17 and kicked out of the house for the 2nd time.

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 5 points 1 year ago

Dude I’ve never met someone else who rolled up second hand cigs. My situation when I was doing it was similar to yours, except my friend and I had become rather efficient at stuffing food down our pants at the local Kroger, so we usually had one good meal a day, and then a half cup of rice each for the rest of the day.

I’m glad to hear you’re doing better, that was a rough life and not one I would wish on anyone, even my enemies.

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

You make it sound kinda nice, actually.

[–] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Sliced, sauted over rice with ketchup.

[–] PrunesMakeYouPoop@kbin.social 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hot dogs in a can? That's disgusting. Enjoy your upvote.

[–] rmuk 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Everyone know hotdogs should come in jars.

[–] PrunesMakeYouPoop@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, plastic because fuck the environment.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Plastic jars then. Like peanut butter.

[–] PrunesMakeYouPoop@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, plastic wrapped, because jars can be reused.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You’re not reusing your old hotdog wrappers?

[–] LeylaaLovee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Posting this on an instance without downvotes is cheating, but still funny

[–] salient_one@lemmy.villa-straylight.social 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who else counted the hot dogs on the label just to make sure there are 8? 😅

[–] lauha@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Who else read "Show dogs" from the thumbnail?

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

You had me at "in brine" 🥰

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 5 points 1 year ago

I'm doing my part

[–] CyberBoy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Hotdogs in a can!?!I What a novel concept take my upvote!

[–] wyrmroot@programming.dev 4 points 1 year ago

I wouldn’t even consider upvoting fewer than 6 hot dogs but you got me here.

[–] MrZigZag@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)
[–] atocci@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I don't know why the can is so off-putting, but it is. Lots of other things come in a can, including tuna and chicken, but somehow this is a step too far for my brain.

[–] rstein@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

As a vegan, get an angry upvote!

[–] xXemokidforeverXx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hot dogs from a jar? How could I not?

[–] xeronine@lemmy.biz 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Hupf@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

No, that's 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕬𝖘𝖍𝖇𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗

Here we go again 🤣

[–] Umbra@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Takes 5 minutes to cook them, why would I get them canned?

[–] MaxVoltage@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

i love hotdogs

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Why buy these over the vastly superior vienna sausages, though? (They're European!)

[–] dingus@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Just like back when all you had to do to get upvotes in the DayZ sub was to post cans of beans.

[–] somedaysoon@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago

Please no, not again!

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

You're goddamn right!

Don't hate, I'm sure they're better than some of the shit my kids have had to eat.
