Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

I no longer pick up my phone to check reddit every few minutes. I won't be installing any mobile Lemmy apps. I can watch a movie or TV show without my phone in my hand. Best thing that could have happened for my Reddit addiction.

Same boat, let's not sink it

I still find myself opening my reddit app because somehow it still works (Relay). But 20x less. I do open Jerboa though...

I’m using Lemmy a bit too much actually lol. I need to limit it.

I still do. But then I remember that its gone and I put my phone back down and find something else to do.

Something I’ve noticed is that I had basically stopped commenting on Reddit because it seemed like someone always wanted to start a fight. I don’t even generally comment about politics or controversial topics, but still it felt like I was getting rude responses doubting my stories or whatever. Now I’m more likely to take a moment to share a response.

Lemmy also has landmine topics. There are many dedicated vegans and communists, for example

And more people see everything, as there is less content, so talking positively about capitalism or meat will earn you down-votes initially (and permanently if it's buried or actually wrong)

Maybe it's due to population size, but I'm beginning to feel like Lemmy is a worse echo chamber than Reddit. And yes, I have noticed the landmines and people getting overly downvoted for stating simple opinions.

I'm not so sure this is the place for me anymore. I'll stick around for now, but I may leave if something else comes along.

It's a mix of size and the founder population who are still a significant fraction of the population

[–] VediusPollio@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Probably accurate. That seems to have set the trend for who belongs. Of course we'd all want to keep highly objectionable material away, but I'd prefer to see some diversity of thought.

This.

My comments on reddit either has only 1 upvote or get downvoted to hell with angry replies.

It made me dislike everyone, which is good because people do kind of suck, but bad because it makes me miserable.

Echo chamber subs although I’m not sure if lemmy will be any better.
