Clearly tea is the harder stuff, given that the british entered war with China several times for it

Hemlock? The stuff they supposedly used to execute Socrates? Literally a poisonous plant... not a typical "tea" but it has been used for execution in the ancient world via steeping it in hot water and "drinking the hemlock."
