I've always had pretty nice, low-maintenance skin but now that I'm in my forties I find it needs extra attention. One thing I'd really like to improve is getting the glassy look. It seems like most women who achieve this are pretty young and/or on tret. I don't want to try tret because I'm very pale and already sun-sensitive. (At this point I've lost count of how many atypical things my dermatologist has lopped off, despite religiously using mineral sunscreen!)

My current skincare routine is here. It's definitely made a difference for me but I'm looking to refine it.

What can I tweak to get glass skin? Or is it even possible at my age without tret?

I'm really bad at advising others, I hope other people will!

Sleeping with a humidifier is supposed to help.

I would think about adding a retinoid in the evenings!

pale and sun sensitive sound like a deficency to me. also, oxidative stress of unsaturated fatty acids destroy the skin ability to darken, and that is very bad. sounds like you are out of vitamin d, or iron, or vitamin c or something.

only use sunscreen if your skin hurts. if you are getting tanned, you wont need sunscreen anyway. thats what the tan is for

"reduce dullness / add glowiness, get rid of dark circles below eyes, reduce appearance of fine lines and red spots"

all signs of vitamin deficency. is you hair getting thin, gray, and weirdly curly, and the ugly side? thats deficency. bloodshot eyes?

make a blood test. you will be surprised.

sounds like you are low on iron and a couple of other things.

Thanks, but my bloodwork is excellent - no deficiencies! My hair and eyes are doing fine too. I'm naturally very pale, and very pale people tend to be sun-sensitive. In fact, I've had to have a number of precancerous spots removed from my skin. Physical sunscreen (zinc & titanium) are a must for me according to my dermatologist. But thank you anyway for your feedback!

thanks for your feedback, i am happy that you already ruled that out, you seem to keep very good care of yourself, much more than i do to myself. so, sorry i intruded, i have nothing to say about cosmetics.
