Finally home!!! God I missed fluffy butt. She was a little hesitant but that's OK. It couldn't have been easy to have a stranger in the house for a week.

Ew just got a thing for a 10 year high school reunion. Would it be rude to reply "hated you all then, would probably still hate you all now.", or maybe I could ask if they'll still bash me on sight for being bisexual and having a gay Mum.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The polite thing to do would say you won’t be coming and not elaborate further.

If you’re not ready or able to move on from the shitness of high school, you don’t have to go. I didn’t attend mine either. But the way you’ve framed it here says to me that you want conflict, you want to pick a fight with someone over something ten years old…and ultimately no one involved, including you, would get anything good or healthy out of picking that fight.

A quarter of an hour until the good local pizza shop opens. Chewing nails down to the elbow in anticipation. And they're doing a two for $20 deal right now.

Hahaahhaa hahaahaha I have another phone interview first thing Monday morning!

All shall love me and despair! MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Edit: instead of doubleposting I'll edit; a thought: should I update my username to SpudChub? It gives me the giggles, but that may also be the hangover talking 🤔

Finally took the plunge and made the decision to block an overbearing friend on social media (he was spamming me with memes, getting angry if I didn't respond, declaring that he would leave me alone forever, then spamming me with memes the next day). I guess I felt a bit bad for him as I know he doesn't have many friends, which is why I never cut him off completely...but he's really worn that down (and I'm really worn down by this as well).

I love this time of year when the garden just starts coming to life again. Enjoy some photos from my garden just now:

spoiler

ID: photos of new green shoots on a maple tree, the first baby daffodil of the season, some white jonquils, white and orange poppies, and a bee munching getting drunk on poppy pollen

I'll try not to spam this, but please, DT, don't sleep on tinned fish. It has a strange historical bad rap. But holy shit.... As a recent convert.... It's insanely tasty and consistent and CHEAP. Sardines are literally a superfood you can get from Coles for next to nothing. Give them a fucking chance. Herring too. But the main point is to give tinned fish a chance - i truely believe that were currently in a time where it is undervalued, underpriced. Get ahead of the curve friends. I'll share basic recipes if you like, but I pretty much just eat them with chopsticks over the sink

Alright, this is normally way, way more plastic than I would normally tolerate but I've been tired and trying to save money. So with a couple of good markdowns and a few 50% specials (get onto the Half Price app, people!), I'm pretty happy with...

this haul for $37.82

Pile of groceries on kitchen counter - including several marked down veg, two boxes of frozen fish pieces, a bag of sour snakes, a packet of soy milk and a tray of vegan mince

Receipt for proof

And here is dins made with the veg (except spinach) and the indulgent vegan mince (which took up 21% of that spend!!!) - a big mess of everything thrown together. Cost $7 without the mince, $15 with it

So things have calmed down today.

Health issues are still there though. I really need my tax return to come through. Wish they processed and refunded on a weekend.

My partner’s going to need some surgery sadly and we’re going to need to purchase something that prevents an artery transfer from being rejected.

Trying to sort out some stuff think I’ll sell some of my video games to try and make up the cost difference.

ugh, had a climate change nightmare, dreamt there was a hurricane coming and there was already some flooding

I had a packed big van ready to go, but MiL would rather die than take my help or advice, husband kept on lying/sabotaging and BiL would do the opposite.

Even tho it was personal I can see it explains wider society really well.

oh well, I may as well just eat this cake I baked yesterday for lunch

I just saved a little grasshopper who was knocking on my front door. Moved him on to my lemon tree.

Actually he could have been a praying mantis because he was trying to fight me rather than jumping away.

What’s for dinner?

Mr Omoikiri is away so I took the opportunity to just steam some veggies with a miso sesame dipping sauce

Dog successfully walked. The cat was gracious enough to move from my lap, and has now taken over my spot on the couch as compensation. Given the gentle snores I am hearing she is quite settled.

Plan for the day: scrambled eggs for breakfast. Some study on my housing module. Salad for lunch. Outdoors in the garden to do a couple of assignments for my gardening module, with some bonus weeding. Maybe plant a couple of things. Second dog walk this afternoon, of course. I might do a roast for dinner, I think there is a small piece of pork in the freezer I can pull out. Today is looking to be a rather nice day.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago (8 children)

Bribing myself failed. I have not completed my assignment, and I just ate my treat anyway.

I am looking at houses, which is what I am supposed to do, so it is at least a start. I'm really not finding a lot of places that look comfortable to be in. Far too many hard surfaces and square edges.

Having some quality couch time today doing a lot of journaling. Booked in for a massage session which I'll head out soon for. Been a while since I've had a day like this where I felt like there's no rush and don't feel fomo. It's nice.

Very excited that a comedian I really enjoy is performing 2 nights in Vegas when I'll be there. Snagged myself a ticket to that! $130 AUD it ended up being (it started as advertised $59 USD + fees, damn our feeble dollar) but that seems pretty on-par for ticket prices here I guess, except I did get the cheap seats in the back.

Edit: OMG another comedian I love is on too! My evenings are filling UP!

Took advantage of the weather and trimmed back the rosemary bush hedge out the front that was getting a bit overgrown and taking over the footpath a bit. The whole street smells like a roast now ✌️

Laundry done. I forget who called it Mt Washmore, but that really really fits. Now for the eternal shopping.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My Mt Washmore has been conquered, its Mt Foldmore that keeps challenging me.

Husband told me after I had finished cooking it's now a xmas in july thing and his fam wants xmas dinner. There isn't a fleeting commercial trendy fad they don't follow. They want to be trendy . 🤬 S'pose I better buy a big chook ( can you even get turkeys or geese in July? Anyway, not enough people, chook is enough , I'm not stuffing it, I think I might buy some pre-roasted )

[–] the_procrastinata@aussie.zone 9 points 1 year ago

Sounds like Mr Seagoon has volunteered himself for cooking his family’s dinner.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Hit up your local chinese takeaway and tell 'em it's a jewish xmas

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

A Coles chook should do.

Just had a nice long shower and serenaded my apartment neighbours. One benefit of apartment living is the hot water seemingly never runs out so I'll get out when I'm finished singing and no sooner. Now to go serenade the Westgate and Western freeways.
