I think a lot of us futurists have a clearer understanding of the post-singularity world than we do of the “bridge” era between now and then. I’m fascinated by this transitional era. Will it be extremely violent with lots of protests and anti-AI terrorism as jobs are lost? Will there be new cities created by wealthy pro-tech, pro-AI people? Will the current cities become surveillance states or will they descend into hellholes as people flee to more futuristic cities?
Let’s take an American city like Baltimore or Chicago or Philadelphia. Walk me through what you think will happen to these types of cities between 2025 and 2050. How will crime in these cities be addressed? How will the people living there adopt AI? I choose these cities because I think it’s easier to imagine places like San Francisco or NYC or DC or London being faster to integrate AGI and ASI. So what happens in these other major cities? A mass exodus of all high-IQ pro-AI people? Or will there be a similar forced integration of AGI and ASI nationwide?
