Driving to camp a local radio station was doing one of those fake call-in drama segments. My 12yo asked what I thought about the situation. I explained that those segments are fake and that the “callers” are local improv artists or out of work actors. After listening to the segment, my 12yo said”You can tell by their fake radio voice”. When we got to camp the first thing said after hellos was “Did you know those radio call in shows are fake?!”. I guess the tweens have a topic for the day.

Awww come on. You're a dad. Be like Calvin's dad. Tell outlandish fibs that will later make your kids suddenlt go WTF in realisation, when they're on the toilet 20 years later.

Oh, for sure. I think my kids may still believe that the reason suits of armor in the museum are so small is because metal shrinks over time.

Heh. No, Sarah is actually real and is struggling with what to do because she is engaged and getting married next month, but went out to lunch with an old boyfriend and discovered she still has feelings for him and they shared a light kiss goodbye and now she doesn’t know whether or not to tell her fiancé about it…

Real stuff that.
