Considering the games they have coming up, they could be looking at 5 straight losses, but it's hard to say. My gut says no, not unless they finish the season below 8th or a much higher calibre coach becomes available.

Happy Boxing Day / St Stephen's Day :) we get to relax and laugh at other people struggle with football today lol

Lol! Can't wait. The Chelsea result has been a bit of Christmas cheer already this week. My Instagram feed has been full of memes about them and about ten hag losing his job after this next four game run

EtH may very well get fired if he doesn't do well over the next few games (Villa, Nottingham, Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham and Villa)

They should get a win over Nottingham, but they very well could lose 4 in a row afterwards and I honestly don't seem them picking up more than 6 points in those 6 games.

With silly season coming in hot, what do we think about guirassy and his alleged low release clause? 17 goals in 14 for Stuttgart this season

@hangonasecond @GunnersBot don’t know enough. Is this just one hot season? Or is there history of building up to this and he’s a late bloomer?

I see arguments both ways. Early issues with injury at Lille delayed his development and then he was unlucky to spend a few years on relegation teams where he could never really shine. He has twice been loaned out and subsequently had an option to buy exercised, which might say he has good character or might mean nothing at all. He has a strong goalscoring record for Stuttgart, but wasn't as impressive for Rennes the couple of seasons before that.

His numbers are definitely inflated by the first seven games of the season where two hat tricks brought him to 13 goals in seven games.

I'd say it's not very likely that he will get better, but from the small batch of goal highlights I've seen it seems like he could be a great option at his price purely for his ability to score the "easy" goals that our players seem to be allergic to. In saying that, a lot of his opportunities seem to be one on one with the keeper after breaking the line and that's probably not a great fit for us stylistically, with the amount of the ball we have

Emery with a late gift to United

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

What a great game.

In typical fashion, Fernandez has to have his diva moment and get a yellow. Captain material there I tell ya 😁.

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

For United? Absolutely. He and Ten Hag are what that club stand for.

Emery back to his old tricks I see. A shame, cuz I do have a soft spot for him as a former Gunner. Not really a surprise though.

Bit of a weird question, does anyone know of any digital radio broadcasts of premier league games? I couldn't find anything legitimate in Australia but I'm wondering if there's something i can access with a VPN. I'd love to be able to listen to games when I'm out for a walk. Even better if I can listen back to replays. It's just a bit annoying with videos because 1, it uses a lot of battery and 2, the commentary is obviously given with the visuals in mind where a true radio broadcast would be much easier to follow.

Nevermind - found this, and doesn't need a VPN or sign up in Australia: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_five_live

If somebody does know of one without all the filler talkaback etc content radio has, I will still take it hahaha

How the fuck did we lose to these mofos??

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

This is the game I've been waiting for all day.

[–] hangonasecond@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I didn't realise there was another game today. On one hand, I want man U to suffer. On the other hand, I want all the teams in the top 6 aside from us to drop some points...

[–] Gingerrific@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Most definitely want a draw, but watching United crumble is probably better than sex for me at this point.

[–] hangonasecond@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Agreed. This has turned into quite the game but hopefully it finishes this way. Even better if both teams accumulate some yellows.
