OK, so Mac is pretty peppy, but doesn't hold a candle to Linux. And searching for files in Windows is like trying to pull an elephant''s teeth with spaghetti tongs.

Now admittedly I need to do more file searches in Linux b/c I'm always looking for where I placed certain Windows executables I need to open with wine, but good gravy, even if I do 10 searches in Linux for every 1 in Windows, the fact that a search from home in Linux goes an order of magnitude faster than a search from a just the steamapps folder in Windows means I spend that much less time searching for mod editors/mod files/folders/files I want to mod.

Completely agree!

I cannot tell you how many times, in how many versions of Windows, on seemingly /any/ hardware configuration, over or underpowered for its day, I have had to disable the file indexing routine after spending an hour trying to figure out why the fuck /everything/ is going so much slower than it should be.

Fuck Windows.

Voidtools Everything

Edit: I don’t use Wine, so I don’t know if this will actually solve your problem. But on a regular windows machine, this is a must.
