Assume the pig is spherical, frictionless and ignore wind resistance.

[–] hstde@feddit.de 15 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

So a spherical pig in a perfect vacuum?

Yeah we have those on aisle 6.

[–] hstde@feddit.de 3 points 11 months ago

My bad, though I learned that the old spelling for aisle is in fact isle. I have corrected it, thank you.

The Aisley Brothers were great though

[–] Muffi@programming.dev 32 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Tried to replicate by subtracting pi from a police officer, but all I got was a type error and a night in jail.

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 3 points 11 months ago

Not the olce offcer

[–] grooving@lemmy.studio 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A pig without pie is gravity? What am I missing?

[–] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 40 points 11 months ago (2 children)

pi = 3.14
g = 9.8 m/s^2
pig

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 43 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wow. Thank you for explaining but that was a lot less funny than I was expecting

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Lol this comment made me laugh more than the op

[–] grooving@lemmy.studio 2 points 11 months ago

Ahhh thank you!

[–] FrankTheHealer@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A pig without (3.14 AKA pi) = g

G is gravity which is 9.8 metres per second on earth

For anyone not sober wondering wtf this meant.

[–] bane_killgrind@lemmy.ml 10 points 11 months ago

I am not sober thank you

[–] bi_tux@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago (2 children)

be me

"... a pig without pi is ... gravity... no...

a pig without pi is... heavy?...

Oh..."

[–] HeChomk@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My friend still doesn't get it...

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.de 9 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Mine doesn't get it either and, uh... it's soooooo easy and obvious that I don't know how to explain. Yeah.

[–] WeirdAlex03@lemmy.zip 33 points 11 months ago (1 children)

"A pig without 3.14 is 9.8"

3.14 = first few digits of π (pi)

"pig" without "pi" is "g" (not math, just letters)

g = term for acceleration due to gravity (on Earth) = 9.81 m/s²

[–] Tyfud@lemmy.one 9 points 11 months ago

Thank you for that. It finally clicked.

[–] bibliotectress@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Pi is about 3.14 and the acceleration for gravity (g) is 9.8. So a pig without 3.14 (pi), is 9.8 (g).

[–] sheepishly@kbin.social 1 points 11 months ago

same here lol

A pig without 3.14 is 9.8

pig - 3.14 = 9.8 pig = 9.8+3.14

Ah fuck, my math. Its 12.94 not 12.84

You have my upvote, but please, don't do it again.

[–] neveraskedforthis@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

I get half of the joke, but completely lost on the second half, and title.

[–] sag@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

For explanation of Title: Actually most of the time I take g as 10 in numericals and give answer in approx.

[–] misophist@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

pig

pi g

The number pi, earth gravity 3.14..., ~9.8m/s²

Pig without 3.14 is 9.8

[–] 1847953620@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

eager downvote

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I don't know why that took me a second...

[–] Player2@sopuli.xyz 3 points 11 months ago

You mean pig without 3 is 10.

[–] Mubelotix@jlai.lu 3 points 11 months ago

Find the accelaration

[–] flan@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

is this a grand unified theory

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev -3 points 11 months ago

A pig without 3.14 is (0.0015926...) * 9.8
