I predict a big breakaway to get away, probably with some climbers who are 10-20 on GC. They’ll get 8 minutes before Col de la Ramaz. The KOM battle will be unrecognisable.

The GC battle will spark up, and the last survivor of the break will be narrowly caught near the top of the Joux Plane but not near enough to catch back on and deny Pogacar the win.

Pidcock will chase like a madman down the final descent, but was already a minute down over the top so it won’t be enough.

That is a very specific prediction and I applaud you for that :D

yes, you have to be good to make it into the breakaway today. If some one in the breakaway is close enough in GC he will force the peloton to keep them under control and the average speed will make the stage even harder (like stage 12)

I'm not sure who needs more make the stage harder, TJV or UAE. It might play into Vinegaard's advange make it dificult all day long, so Pogacar has not that amazing final rush.

IDK, of course :D

Those fucking motorcycles!

Unbelievable, but what a stage. Pogacar and Vingegaard are so equally matched.

True grit from Vingegaard getting back to Pogacar and then taking the mountain top sprint. It will only get harder from here, and if he doesn't crack on a stage I think Vingegaard will take this in the end due to better restitution.

Seriously, such bad luck for pogi :( but still a great stage!

On that final ascent during Pog's sprint, was it actually the motorbike wanting to be close or did it have to slow down due to the crowd being in the way? I couldn't tell on TV, either way terrible luck for Pog.

Yeah I would blame the organisers for not ensuring the fans kept put the way.

I hope the comments about TJV saving their riders yesterday were true, and we will see all-out war today.

At the same time Kwiatkowski's win yesterday must have inspired more people to go for a breakaway today. A Pog/Vinge win is not a given.

What a stage! The Tour hasn't been this entertaining for Yeats 😀

I can see Pidcock winning this. He really is the biggest surprise for me in the gc, didn't think he would be that good consistently.

[–] ryrybang@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

If you like Pidcock, you apparently can never make predictions about him again.

[–] Cthulhu1@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

While he clearly is surprisingly good, he still has to outclimb (and admittedly descent, where he is brilliant) the other two and with place 8 in GC I don't think they will just let him ride.

[–] xohshoo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yeah, after losing over 8 minutes today, he's looks unstoppable...

[–] Krob@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

That crash at the beginning didn't do him much good. I wonder if he will be recovered today.

[–] ghose@foros.fediverso.gal 1 points 1 year ago

a french FTW today :D

Pinot will be all in in the first climbs to be in the breaway. Anyway, it all depends on TJV.

[–] gxabbo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I also see Pidcock's name in this.

MVPs for Jonas: Wout van Aert, Sepp Kuss, Camera Motorbike.

What an epic stage though. More battles to come! My favourite TdF to date.

[–] ghose@foros.fediverso.gal 1 points 1 year ago

what about Rodriguez!? He's 22 yo

Yes, won because Jonas & Tadej were playing at each other in the last 2km, ANYWAY!

Weird that Pog didn't let yates' wheel go in the finale. 4s vs 0s would have been better than 6s vs 4s.
