I've installed revanced just to make YouTube like some years ago and It's amazing. No shorts, no community posts, no BS. However, I like ads to be played before videos so the creators would earn money. I've disabled all the ad options but still there are no ads. Is it even possible to enable ads?

I believe you can disable hiding ads in the manager while patching youtube revanced, but I don't think anyone has tried that.

Thanks. I'm using the apk from the website though, as I couldn't patch it myself (I don't know it just couldn't finish patching. Should try again later). I don't think anyone is using this app other than removing ads :D

From their github which was linked on their website. Wait, was I on a wrong website? https://revanced.io/youtube/

100% that is not the official.

Wouldn't say you're fucked, just clear data and uninstall. Find a walkthrough on how to do it the proper way in revanced.app and you're off, when patching look for the hide ads patch and uncheck it.

You'll be the only Revanced user to WANT ads. Ever.

Thanks. But I did that and still there are no ads.

You unchecked hide ads before patching and still aren't getting ads... Do you even have MicroG installed?

[โ€“] ehsan301@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

These are the things I've patched.

This is getting into the realm that I'm guessing but I bet Client Spoof might have something to do with it. I wish someone more knowledgeable could weigh in.

Hey, if you ever find a solution to this I'd be interested to hear about it. I'll be looking for a solution too, I'll let you know if I figure anything out

I still couldn't find a solution. Still no ads no matter what I've patched in the revanced manager. There was an APK on the internet which claimed it has a whitelist feature which enables ads for the channels you select. But I haven't tried it.

Thanks for letting me know. If I find a solution I'll update you; I should probably go open an issue ticket on the github. I know the old vanced app had a whitelist function that worked just fine. I think vanced is still working so you could use that if it fits your need, but it will probably cease to function correctly at some point- no telling how long it'll continue to work.

I'm kinda thinking I might try uninstalling the actual YouTube app and seeing if not including the client spoofing and video advertising patches yeilds anything productive. I really like the newpipe app, but it doesn't have video ads and I'd like to still be able to support creators

Are you spoofing app version? What version of the apk are you patching?

No I didn't spoof the app version. I've patched 18.23.35

simple already explained how you can do so, but I would encourage you to just directly donate to the creators you watch

A YouTuber makes about 6 dollars per 1000 views, so if you really care about a creator, give them a dollar per month if they aren't already rich.

$6 per 1000 views sounds like a lot. Interesting! Is there a source where I can read more about this?
