Internet connection for single-player games. Dumbest shit ever.
Also, a personal pet peeve is shitty UI and UX. There have been so many games that have come out recently with such bad UI that it makes me gag.

On release dlcs.
Releasing unoptimized games with shader and traversal stutters.
paid online multiplayer for consoles
People just repeating thoughtless takes from annoying YouTubers without thinking for themselves.
Releasing games for PC that are not optimised and pushing use of DLSS or FSR to compensate for loss of frames.
I'm gonna be honest. The Free to Play model as a whole needs to rot in a hole. The monetization in all of these games are so overpriced and in your face that at that point I'd rather spend money on a full priced game. But they make way more money than a single $60 purchase ever would that its never going away. It's probably the main reason why so many multiplayer FPS games are so dogshit nowadays
The player standard that it's possible or reasonable to expect a corporation to ignore its deadlines and delay games indefinitely until they're perfect.
Stop pre-ordering and buying games on release day. There's nothing more ludicrous than the guy who complains he's constantly being disappointed by games they buy on release. Don't be a dummy. You're responsible for your own misery. Let other people be the guinea pig for you.
games as a service
AAA TITLES. AAA GRAPHICS. GTA 5. MICRO TRANSACTIONS. BATTLE PASS. OPEN WORLD. BANNING TOXIC PROXIMITY CHAT.
Chromatic. Fucking. Aberration.
Also film grain.
Moms that repeatedly have sex with your opponents
Lack of private server support. I get why they do it, but those reasons are also things that should die.
Wives telling us we’re too old to game.
F2P but P2W is bad. Should be called free to lose
Cluttered UI and marks and waypoints for every damn thing
The half-assed games that are being released just to drop mediocre (at best) DLCs later on. It's tiresome and unethical, imo. Gaming is dying and the big guys are killing it. Just look at Call of Duty. That shit is waaay past its prime, and it should have stayed with the dammed Warzone only but it's a dirty money grab. Nicki Minaj, really?
Games as a service. I'm tired of this kind of business model as I feel that most games aren't made with love anymore.
Free to Play games. When there's no price there's no demand for quality, so no one complains when they sell immersion breaking skins for $20.
Open world missions in single player games that are completely devoid of any life or reason to explore. Bonus points if copy pasted “bases” with enemies around the map.
See: Call of Duty: MW3 (2023), Halo Infinite
Pre-ordering. Online only games. Releasing broken/ unfinished games. Paying more for a digital copy of a game.
microtransactions
always online
single player games that have daily missions tied to being always online and nothing else that justifies being online
Paid DLC. Give me the full game I paid for. If you release DLC as part of the game I've bought at least make it free
Releasing them unfinished
People like Todd Howard saying you should upgrade your computer because their game is optimized, how about optimize it for the most common graphics cards and cpus, so the average consumer can play the fuckin game and have it run at 60fps, I played rdr2 on a 3060 6gb laptop GPU and got 60+ on ultra textures and medium lighting, game was beautiful, starfield, well lol.
always-online
Raytracing/Pathtracing, until the technology can be enabled without too much of FPS penalty
Having to sign up or log into a service to use all the services in a game
Items with meaningless rarity, when common and legendary item have the same name and same look but one happens to be grey and the other one orange or purple with slightly better stats
Big maps with no content is a waste of my time.
A ton of examples of why pirating gives you a far better experience.
Microtransaction for stuff that should be part if the game
No difficulty slider.
season passes
Checkpoints
Letting Bethesda exist after Fallout 76
Battle passes
Asking “what’s a modern standard in gaming that needs to die” on Reddit.
stupidly small inventories requiring boring inventory juggling
Making every game single player on a console.
We used to play 4-player split screen games together on a 25” 480i TV. It should be fine playing 4-player on a 65+” 4k tv (everyone would have 1080p)
Now kids have to all bring a console to play the same online game in the same room.
(And its why our Wii U still gets a bunch of use playing Mario Kart)
Bring back couch coop!
Aim Assist too strong by default to combat skill gaps.
Skill based match making
Copypasting games, looking at you bugisoft
