For me this is the crucial moment when Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2, finds out he has TB... What about you?

Long time Witcher books fan here. Loved the games as well.

When Geralt walks into the hut on the Isle of Mists, finding his beloved daughter lying in a bed, still and lifeless... I felt as cold as the White Frost.

The very first time I played this sequence, I cried at first, then leapt in joy when she awoke.

Not really an specific moment, but i've recently finished playing Detroit Become Human.

All I could think of when Arthur was diagnosed with TB was Alucard's famous line from Hellsing Abridged:

"Pussed out like a bitch.".

I played the Outer Wilds DLC in VR. Don't want to spoiler anything, but the first time encountered >!someone under a starry sky!<, I almost shit myself.

Wind Waker - Going below the water and seeing the frozen Hyrule Castle scene. Then the Zelda theme music plays. Sent chills down my spine.

I'll pop your God damn knee cap off. "Joel Miller"

[–] Ze_Po1ar_Bear@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The original Prey (2006). That game had no qualms about showing what the aliens were doing to their humans. And then there are the kids. They didn't get special treatment for being young. You watch a ghost just explode one and then beat another one to a pulp with its fists. Then it just yeets the body only for it to turn to pulp on impact. Good fucking game.

Off the top of my head I'd say the nuke scene in the beginning of FO4

Having my female protagonist murdered with a garden trowel in PHANTASMAGORIA, back in the day on PC. Dude plunged it through my screaming mouth and out the back of my neck, giving me a Heath Ledger ‘Joker smile’ before it even existed. Look it up on YT lol.

That sentence when BT requests to retain you as pilot instead of being assigned a professional pilot.

The reapers invading Earth at the start of Mass Effect 3.

I was all up in my feels. That was home. For every human. And we left while 70% of the planet was farmed like cattle.

Halo reach, at the end of "Long night of Solace," Jorge sacrifices himself to secure a major step in defending Reach from the Covenant.

Then, all of the sudden, as you're falling from space, your comms hears "Slipspace Rupture Detected," then it repeats, and keeps repeating faster and faster until thr voice is overlapping itself, as an enormous Covenant fleet warps in and begins glassing Reach in retaliation.

The sudden swing from "Glimmer of hope" to "Total despair" is executed so well.

The end of shadow of the Colossus or Ico. It feel like a great dream you had but you cant remember already.

The intro to the first ATV: Offroad Fury. As soon as that first note from Atlanta starts playing, I know I'm bout to be stuck in place for hours

I’ll be honest, Arthur Morgan never got an emotion out of me

[–] jjcnc82@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

World of Warcraft. Tarren Mill vs. Southshore. Southshore was all lined up in a perfect battle line, all mounted up. There were probably 150 folks in Southshore alone. One guy starts pacing up and down the front line on his horse, delivering King Theoden's pre battle speech from LoTR. The call to charge was sounded, everyone was in sync. This all happened 100% organically.

The entire ending sequence from Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I was sobbing the whole time, part from sadness and part from joy. Never had a game have me feel a range of emotions like that before

[–] Linenlion@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

lol here’s one

I think I was like 9 or 10 (maybe younger) when super Mario galaxy came out. That whole first opening sequence until you get the first grand star of the game hit different. I’m pretty sure as a kid I was truly terrified of bowser. Like scared to even touch the game for a good while. Eventually I got over it and slowly got into it. I think the first star took me months because I was so scared of the enemies. And I was so confused what to do. So yeah that happened.

The "would you kindly" scene from Bioshock.

[–] Catopuma@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Armored Core Nexus - PS2.

Final mission. Most AC games end with you the Raven, going off and continuing after defeating whatever tech/AI big bad.

This one ends with endless drones just swarming you till the screen fades to black. Just a looming sense of hopelessness.

Far Cry 5’s moment when you’re captured by Jacob and Joseph tells you about his life before the cult

that was spoken in such a tone to the point where hairs stood up on my body as he explained in his way how fucked up and psychotic he was

[–] TheMobbsy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I first played Until Dawn over 4 nights with headphones and the lights off. I'd not seen the monster but I knew it was like a scary Heavy Rain so I knew I'd like it. Holy fuck, the design of those fuckers haunted me for weeks and even now years later I'll see a picture of one and get nervous walking in the dark.

Seeing Hannah's handwriting devolve as she talks about digging up her own sister's corpse to eat... Watching Josh's breakdown.

What a game.

As a side note without a guide I kept everyone alive until the end when I had to keep the controller still and flat for Sam. I typically hold it angled sooo...

First time I encountered Astel Naturalborn of the Void in elden ring pretty much every hair on the back of my neck stood up as I prepared to fight a cosmic death dragonfly scorpion

[–] memphis_dude@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Serena. Free game on Steam from 2014. Only takes about an hour to play but so worth it for the chilling twist.

[–] T_Bagger23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No Russian

I knew there was a warning but didn't think I'd be shooting up an airport. Even though its a video game it still gave the feeling of "this is fucked up"

[–] Colostomy_Bag@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Basically the entirety of F.E.A.R. but mainly shit like this: scary girl

[–] bannedsodiac@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When I was 15 and went to my first lan party and we fucking won the whole thing. It was surreal. Still think about it once a month and I'm 30 years old.

[–] Chiele-Piele@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When I was a kid I played mafia city of lost heaven. Although I played the remake, it was pretty obvious, but Salieri and Pauli ratting on you. Or actually using u for a transport of cigarettes, which were actually diamonds. (English is not my native language but I could make it out what was happening back than)

Also pretty much a lot of the scenes from modern warfare (original). Starting with the scene u sit in a car and see multiple executions. It’s a bit like, it’s on and it won’t go off till the end of the game. And it goes off… like nuclear off

[–] ChuckEChan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nothing epic, but it was my first time playing the Xbox 360. I started BioShock and was kinda overwhelmed at how good the game looked in the intro video. The exact moment that got me was when you get control of the character right after the plane crash and he surfaces, but I just sat there waiting on the next part of the cinematic to finish, not realizing that it had switched to game play. When I finally moved the analog stick wondering what was going on, I was floored.
