Why do they keep fucking about with our game! The reason it’s so popular across the globe and gets the massive investment is it’s pretty much the perfect team sport.

The way this is going!the commentary will be like ‘ Wow - look at that..looks like a great handball force by MBappe - lifting the ball to get the penalty….oh wait - Klopp is playing his one-time challenge card to force an orange card - let’s hope he’s right or he’ll lose his teams tactical substitution in case of an 5 min sin bin’

Turning the beautiful game into fucking Magic The Gathering.

Long overdue - that Fernandinho style intentional, deliberate, but nonviolent foul has always been worth more than a yellow but less than a red. Hope this stamps it out.

[–] IslandChillin@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

lol they do this in hockey. Idk if it’s meant for the pitch

[–] Trinitaff@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tired of them changing shit

[–] Over_Professional_77@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is this reasonable?

[–] creamwit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So they’re giving us “time-outs” without giving us “time-outs” 😂

[–] Latter-Towel8927@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I like the idea. In practice the introduction of the orange will reduce the numbers of times a red card is issued, as the referees will have a mechanism to punish a team a 'little' bit without altering the entire game. If this was brought in red cards would only be used for clear intentionally dangerous tackles, or clear fouls to stop a goal scoring opportunity.

The comments here are also why the referees are on a hiding to nothing. Some of you want subjective refereeing, but will cry when the 'subjective' reason does not go your teams way, and will find all the other examples where the foul was/was not called. Others wants refereeing to to letter of the law, but cry when this goes against your team (eg the Curtis Jones tackle).

It’s very effective in community football. People stop mouthing off pretty quickly. Turns what used to be an individual punishment (yellow card) into a collective punishment (playing a man down). If used properly, this should reduce a lot of the back chat.

I think a basketball-style “foul out” system for accumulated fouls would be interesting. Let’s say a player has committed his third foul in a half - five minutes on the touch line. Some players make a living by knowing how to foul consistently without them being cardable offenses. This would cut down on that behavior and probably be less subjective since it would be cumulative.

Wow! And with some fifacage its foothockey with ball now! What’s next? The keeper use an armour and be switched for a line player for some minutes or change ball for a puck?

[–] I-dunno-some-dude@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is this something that might be applied in late-game situations to discourage time-wasting? I rarely see a yellow given in those situations, but I suppose the threat of a 10-minute numerical disadvantage could theoretically cut down on some of it.

[–] TheLoneWanderer__@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Stop changing the game ffs

[–] robinthebank@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So what do they do for 10 mins? Jog? Ride a stationary bike? They are going to come back in not warmed up and get injured.

[–] FormerManyThings@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good idea, but the fact that they are implementing it because refs are getting their feelings hurt is ludicrous. Try to be better at your jobs first, then we'll bring in new rules.

[–] Big_Department_9221@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mean I am all for experimentation - but can't we get another name than "Sin-Bin" - sounds soo..... dirty ifykwim.

[–] Veterate@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Should be 3 minutes. 10 is too long in this game. Plus what if you have multiple yellows in that 10 minutes?

Just adding more reasons to create controversy. Maybe only do it in a situation where a player from both teams is yellow carded for a single incident. Then it's played as a 10 v 10.

[–] Flashy-Attention-627@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just fuck off leave the game alone

[–] Tiften11@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Stop ruining the game with idiotic new rules!

[–] glassandshite@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

More subjectivity for the refs to interpret differently every week

I invented this concept at age six in 1998, but no one took it seriously.

This will be bad for Man City… their whole style is based on cynical fouls in the middle of the pitch, or any break

[–] MaraPlayz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nah this is just stupid. Refs are shit with 2 cards what they gonna do with 3?!?!

[–] liquidreferee@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Sure this could be a good idea, but the problem with the prem are the refs not the rules. Adding more subjectice rules for the same shit officiating will only make it worse

[–] CrazyDanny69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think it would work better to have a 5 or 10 minute penalty box for every yellow card. And I would do away with the one game suspension for aggregate, yellow cards.

Seems like pulling a player from the game immediately would keep them from making a lot of “professional fouls” - which, imo, take away a lot of the fun in the game.

[–] allanson16@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So football is becoming a no contact sport!! And now it is becoming rugby or basketball!! What happened to the beautiful game?!!! What has it become?

[–] AlwaysNipping@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This will just be a way for refs to avoid giving reds, just watch. Players will get "punished" now for things they do, but not the appropriate punishment half the time. What should be a red will be a sin bin.

[–] waisonline99@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can we just have competent refs instead?

[–] Longjumping-Volume25@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is this really what they should be addressing?

[–] Eastern-Astronaut-73@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah brilliant give refs even more power to affect the outcome of games

[–] DuPageCPA@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So what happens if we get 5 cynical fouls in 5-6 minutes? Minimum number of players is 7. So what then?

[–] Shady9XD@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Rodri liked this

[–] Federal_Natural_2755@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Uefa and fifa mafia have destroyed football. Fuck this shit

[–] Vic-123-ma@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Great news!!!! These prima Donna’s need to be checked. They should also put the divers in the bin for a minimum of 5 minutes. Surely they stop and the game will be better. It’s quite embarrassing to watch them play for a free kick or penalty. Play the game as it’s supposed to played

[–] Familiar_Target7401@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think this makes it even more valuable to give the refs a mic for a quick explanation why it’s orange not yellow or red. The entertainment value would be high too.

[–] Familiar_Target7401@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Will fans even be able to tell the color difference from the stands? Woe to the color blind too.
