Like, I should be able to use the device to watch YouTube and Max and stuff.. but I shouldn’t be charged to use the streaming device, right?

A subscription is needed to use Apple TV+, which is a streaming service.

No subscription needed to use the device. You paid for it already.

Just to be clear. The device is named AppleTV. There’s also an AppleTV+ app that’s a streaming app just like Max. Subscription required. Might be dumb to point this out but I’ve seen people on this sub think ATV and ATV+ are one and the same.

Apple is usually good about naming things but they really failed here.

Kind of like how everybody conflates Apple Pay with Apple Pay Cash.
