M1 air is fine but if you like MagSafe and the new form factor than get m2. Also if the pricing is close the extra power from m2 is nice. And before yall say he doesn’t need the power it’s not about now it’s about the usability in 5 plus years. I ran into this where I only got 8gb of ram thinking ehh I don’t really need 16. 3.5years later now I need to buy a new machine for that reason. For allat I would go m2 unless the price of m1 is really compelling

Base model difference is only $100 I believe.
At MSRP. Base M1 is on sale for $750 which is $300 below the M2 $1050 sales. Of course upgraded RAM configs aren't on sale so that changes it.
