I bought a new iPhone and asked the guy to install a screen protector for me . And he said he will install this silicone screen protector.

My heart dropped when he started spraying this glue all over the screen and into the speaker .

Is this normal ? He stated its normal nothing to worry about but I wasn’t sure so i just watched him absolutely smother the phone in that glue .

Maybe you confused water with glue, it’s common to spread water so you can move and place the silicone layer correctly

But it was jelly like substance.

So it’s a kind of lubricant, surely water based. I’m not a big fan of the silicone screen protector but it seems like a good option for the shop, as there are so many devices of different sizes instead of having a huge stock of standard ones. It’s not a printer, the machine has a database for all the sizes and it cuts the silicone sheet accordingly

Np, hope you enjoy the unusual protection

Anytime I have used a screen protector that had a lubricant spray (basically it is just water with a very small amount of soap/detergent) that was used to help place it correctly without bubbles I ALWAY sprayed on the screen protector (and my hand, to prevent sticking to my hand), NEVER NEVER NEVER on the device.

This person who did this should not do it that way.

Get tempered glass next time. Wsker ones on Amazon are worth a look. Comes with install box and peel that statically grabs all dust as it’s dropping the screen. The plastic ones don’t do a lot and not worth it really.
