Hello. I spoke through chat with Apple but I'm still unclear.

If I buy an apple watch with cellular (UK) but I dont own an iphone, can I install a standalone esim to the watch (ie through Airalo or Mobimatter) and use it for calls, messaging etc ? Or can this only work with a required iphone ?

Thanks

Simple answer is no. You need an iPhone and you need a carrier who support the Apple Watch (who have a deal with Apple)

No, the phones is an extension to the iPhone, it is not a standalone device

You will need an iPhone on 3, EE, Vodafone or O2, the watch will be given a ghost number from the phone
