I use it almost exclusively/when it makes sense to. But so many people are surprised that I use it.

Part of it is because I was an android user until about 2015 and that was always a feature on the phones I had. I also use it because I have small hands and the biggest iPhone so I find it easier to type one-handed sometimes.

yes exclusively. I find swiping more accurate and faster than typing with two hands. unless it’s not a common word.

I don’t even know swipe typing means

[–] KrispyAvocado@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I just switched last month from Android and in swyping right now! It makes a ton of mistakes though, so I should really stop. The mistakes are pretty much the same as in the Android, but the iphone had the added frustration of always adding letters to common words (Android didn't do that). The becomes there or three. Everything gets a d at the end to become past tense. Stuff like that. I loved the droid 4 with a physical keyboard. Typing on the phone had never been good like that again.

Hopefully I caught all the mistakes in this message but I'm sure I've missed a few.

When I only have one hand. Usually, when I am petting a cat with the other.

Literally me rn

I LOVE swipe typing. I don't know how people don't use it. I tried explaining it to my wife to convince her to use it, and she wasn't having any part of it. Just seems so much more efficient to me.

Depends on what I’m typing. “lol” is super easy with swipe because the letters are so close.

I thought everyone used swipe. I can't imagine typing characters one by one, it would take me forever. I've used Android up until the 15pm.

Many people tore m type with two thumbs

[–] 869066@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I almost always use it

[–] Moses015@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Occasionally if I'm carrying something and only have one hand available

I can’t even type any other way than to swipe

[–] SurealGod@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I do most times.

I was an android user too and that habit of mine was brought over as well. I just like because it's much quicker.

[–] MarchMadnessisMe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I downloaded GBoard and use that keyboard to swipe to text. It's so much better imo.

[–] MakaylaaaLashe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

yes bc i had an android before i got an iphone and used it ALLLL the time, i was so excited when apple finally added it.

i use it most when i have one hand to type because my 13 PM is huge

[–] Dreviore@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I physically have to with my iPhone 15 Pro right now because manually typing as quickly as I do causes every 3-5 characters to not be registered.

And yes, I swipe type faster than most people type, but it took awhile to get to this point.

[–] Vladivostokorbust@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

almost exclusively - but proofreading for typos is essential. i learned my lesson when i typed and quickly sent "here", as in "we're still here", to my mother. turned out to be "we're still heterosexual"

[–] cavefishes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly no, I'm not a huge fan of sliding my thumb all over the screen and typing with one hand is about as fast. Didn't use it much when I was in Android phones back in the day either.

[–] MelMellue@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

yes when im too lazy to type everything

[–] king-of-new_york@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I use swipe text exclusively. I even downloaded Gboard keyboards before it was a function natively on iphones.

[–] VirtuaFighter6@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes. I feel it’s faster.

[–] VapidRapidRabbit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

All the time.

[–] bloodxandxrank@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I do and i hate it. I used android forever but when i switched over the hit points for words are just different enough to mess me up. I hate typing though so i just suffer.

[–] goonerrao17@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I only use swipe. Just can't imagine typing using the keys anymore on mobile.

The iOS keyboard is not very swipe friendly. So I use the Google keyboard.

[–] achilliesFriend@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I use it always, even to comment here. But some times it predicts wrong and i have to go back and change it.

[–] Spike36O@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

sometimes it works flawlessly, sometimes it struggles with a basic word

[–] GoldBluejay7749@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

100%. I also find it adds random words and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s user error🫣

[–] Zackp3242@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just switched to iPhone after 12 years on Android. I love swipe typing but on iOS it’s complete garbage. I NEVER gets what I want and just randomly stops whenever it feels like it

[–] akotski1338@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Speaking of typing, the new iPhone typing update has been horrible for me at least who uses an older iPhone. I mean I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max but only 12 and above get the better predictive text I think. Seems like now the predictive text is way worse. It always auto corrects to something that doesn’t make sense and does it too often. They added the thing where it underlines an autocorrected word so you can easily revert it but it’s just annoying to have to revert it.
