Does anyone have any advice? I am 3+ hours away from the closest Apple Store and would like to avoid sending it in and being without a phone for 5+ days if possible. Pretty disappointing as I mainly bought this phone for the camera

How did u notice the speck? Or did it show in your camera lenses

[–] PhalanX4012@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can you see it in any of your images? I know it’s visually obnoxious but often dust below the lens doesn’t actually translate to defects in the image. In which case it’s dealer’s choice whether you care enough to get it swapped. (Personally I would, but I will go to great lengths to feel like I’ve gotten value for money, even if it is only cosmetic)

Mine was shipped with a chip in the titanium above the action button.

Do you know why? Search where are some iPhone 15 assembled and why, if you want to know right away, it’s India

[–] Automatic-Bass-8940@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Annoying, but that’s all it is, annoying. It’ll never be picked up by the camera in any capacity. I have many high end lenses with this and the only it effects is my OCD.

[–] TheBoogeyman47@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I would return it 100%

[–] ManLikeZaks@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

that would bother be so much 😭

[–] Formal_Sheepherder41@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Get a replacement if you’d like, I have same thing on my 11 but it doesn’t affect the cameras… and nothing is ever perfect, especially mass produced.. just annoys me visually

[–] MBDesignR@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Return definitely. Nothing you can do about it yourself without having to open up the entire phone which is a LOT of work. Best just to get a replacement.

[–] Robcsalter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

My front camera has the same looking spec inside

[–] Fluffy_Elk5085@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Would have never noticed 😝

[–] DistantFlea90909@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If it’s brand new return it. Sorted

[–] kroos_my_heart@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Had something like this that would continuously move around in the lens and sometimes appear on images taken on my phone (14 Pro). Went to an Apple Store and they replaced the whole camera module for free. You definitely want to get it fixed or replaced by Apple, it will bother you down the road

[–] Erakko@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What do you expect us to do? Come clean it for you? Return it where you bought it

[–] devparam02@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I have the same issue with mine Just living with it since I did not want to wait for an exchange Has not affected picture quality at all

But yes, if you can, definitely get it exchanged

I went to the Apple Store last week for the same reason. All they’re going to tell you is they can’t do much and opening the phone will cause even more damage. They ran a couple diagnostic test to check the camera to see if the speck of dust was effecting it and everything came back fine. Yea it’s annoying but don’t try to think about it as much lol.

[–] 205Style@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My Apple Store replaced the entire camera within 2hrs same day

[–] SetNegative9515@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Damn I guess I should’ve gone to another Apple Store because the employee that was helping me pretty much told me opening the phone will cause more damage.

[–] sykatz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just checked mine with a magnifying glass after this post. SAFU!

Would you like me to also hold your hand?

[–] TylerHusker@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What brand of case is that? I’d like to buy one.

[–] CHOKOPANDA@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I too had a similar dust particle inside my 15pro max, that was 2 months ago, its still there doesn't affect the functionality at all.

[–] Cherrymoon20@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is unfortunately pretty common. If you shine a flashlight into the camera lenses more often than not you’ll probably find some dust underneath them. That one is more apparent though.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro. Mine has a few bits of dust underneath two lenses but it doesn’t effect my photos.

They swap it out with another one, chances are it might have it too. Maybe just not show quite as bad. They are mass produced devices, and dust is everywhere. It doesn’t matter if it’s super duper IP 6000 resistant, dust is all over and it WILL get in there eventually. Just look at the back of your camera modules and see how much dust they collect for example. There’s no way few specks aren’t making it in.

I stopped letting it bother me. If it starts affecting my photos then I’ll reach out to Apple.

You Paid $1100 for a speck of dirt in brand new iPhone, return it.

[–] plee82@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Replace it.

[–] skinnygritty@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I have the exact same issue!!! Brand new 15 Pro Max. Contacted apple support. They said that if it doesn’t affect photo quality they can’t do anything. I also think that a 1200$ should be spotless..

[–] 205Style@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I had a patch appear on my 14 Pro lens when it was new. Genius Bar identified it as a hardware issue, repaired it within 2 hours. Amazing work.

[–] asliceofkiwi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve had this issue a couple times in the past and they always replaced it. I also waited till right before the year warranty was up one time because it didn’t affect the pictures and got a new phone a year into usage.

[–] WedgeGameSucks@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Oh no…..anyways

[–] K_OFFICIAL_KLS@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A MOUS CASE!!!

[–] Roberthen_Kazisvet@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Those damn chinese slaves...

[–] leidkultur@lemmy.one 0 points 11 months ago

It seems like there is a piece of glass in front of the lens (the case maybe?).

Are you sure it isn’t between the glass and the lens?

[–] Able_Psychology3665@alien.top 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I doubt it’ll realistically affect the image quality. I would just move past it.

[–] Lord-Slayer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No matter. You paid premium money for a good product. Return that and get a new one.

[–] CoolPirate234@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So? Who takes photos anyways

[–] sykatz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It would bug me forever no matter if it would affect the performance or not.

[–] teilugh@alien.top 0 points 11 months ago

Best to get it replaced since this will continue to bother you for sure.
