I just checked their website, and while yes, they do have gorgeous cases, I was genuinely mindblown to see their average is between $75 and $120.

I have a high income so it's genuinely not about money, I just don't see how creating a case can be so expensive?

Rocking a $10 clear case from Amazon on my iphone 14 pro. Holds up really well. Dropped it many times by toddler knocks wood nothing so far.

[–] FormoftheBeautiful@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I buy about three a week. That’s an average, sometimes it’s three or more in a single evening.

I know they’re terrible for me, but everyone needs a treat on occasion. They also taste awful, and don’t do my stomach any favours.

Maybe I should try chewing them… or at least cutting them up. 🤔

I was raised by ducks, and I’ll be damned if I stop eating like a duck.

I have been using exclusively Casetify cases for about 3 years. I’ve never paid more than 60 dollars for a case on there as I usually use a YouTuber coupon code but their cases are actually really protective even the lesser versions. Hopefully I won’t jinx it but I’ve never had a phone break and I’ve always had good reliability, my first case broke after about a year and a half of use but I was getting a new phone anyway. I’ve had this new phone case for now about a year and a half and it is showing no signs of issues, wearing well and still no breakage.

I’m only able to get 1-2 because they’re so expensive.

[–] HungerForHipHop@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I just got one for $50 from BB

[–] Rasimione@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Fools and their money

[–] boweslightyear@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They’re the absolute upper limit of what I would pay for a phone case, but now that I’ve gotten a Casetify clear case, I’m convinced. As someone who bought Apple cases previously for years, the quality here is much nicer and the protection-to-bulkiness ratio has been bar-none for me so far. The anti-yellowing is magic and the customization all together justifies the price (I paid $90 each for a Venom branded case and a customized design clear case for my SO with discounts applied) against a market of Apple asking for $70 for silicon or $80 for finewoven/leather cases that never last longer than a year.

[–] DynamicBeez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

There’s a brand on Amazon that makes quality cases that are like the castify cases called Mosnovo. Generally $18-$30. The designs are on the limited sign, but they’re great.

[–] Rogu3_T3ch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Casetify. This is the way!

Bought 2 of them and couldn’t be happier with the level of protection and nice grip.

People who spend this much on phone cases are the same people who have either never heard of aliexpress or if they have, they don’t know how to use it.

[–] TheTheMeet@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I use ringke for my samsung a12. The vibrate system died after falling several times

I instantly ordered otterbox for my iphone 13, i think it was around 50 usd. I can't let this iphone suffer the same fate

[–] MattMamba@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

i bought one.. the back panel started separating from the bumper after a few months.. never gonna buy another one ever again

[–] Primary_Okra4490@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Majority of that cost goes into marketing the product through different channels such as celebrities (Kyliejenner , Jo jonas in this case) and social media influencers to name a few.

[–] TheGirlwThePinkHair@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Never buying them again. The second time the side has come away from the back. Fuck that shit

[–] duana03@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I bought it because they were so cute but the plastic around it started to come undone. Walmart phone cases last longer than casetify cases

[–] therebill@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think they’re that price because they have free replacements

The same can be said for nearly every consumer product, ex: sneakers for one…

Casetify’s cases are great, I buy them. I love them. They are almost a collection piece. I’m also not a big fan of a cheap spigen case that every other person has, very generic feeling. You can customize them, and upload your own designs and photos to be printed. The cases feel like great quality and I’ve personally never had an issue, like the ones I read about on the internet. I get a 12 month warranty and by then I’ll have a new phone.

[–] wango-mango@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Gorgeous? Not sure about that with all that ugly branding.

[–] Ecstatic-Ninja2465@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

i like casetify but i neverr buy more than one casetify case (per phone) and i always go for the “cheapest”option. i agree w the others saying the quality isnt amazing,, sometimes it’s just a “gets the job done” kinda vibe w their cases… but i personally like how their cases feel in my hand like it’s slightly bulky but a comfortable bulky and theyre very protective (at least from my experience) — idk about that $112 or $120(???) bounce case and i’ll never know cuz that one is ugly ngl but the others r nice!

[–] combong@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

no case gang been like that with my OGSE and now my 13 Mini 💪

[–] New-Lawyer3088@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ll never understand people who are borderline obsessed with what other people spend their money on. Probably the same type who hate bmw drivers, or Benz, Bentley, RR, etc…

Casetify cases are great. If they are out your league, move on. If you don’t like them, don’t buy them. They are clearly not targeted towards you baragin shoppers, looking for a steal on Amazon for some generic case. This whole discussion is ridiculous.

The LifeProof cases that seal your phone, cost $100 10 years ago. I was looking at uag case earlier, $100. I can keep going too…

Bounce case is $92, impact is $68. When you buy from them, you get points and the more you spend, that dictates what membership tier you are on. They will then give you discounts and vouchers. I’ve never once paid full price because I always have a voucher in my account. They give me a free case for my birthday each year.

[–] jimmyl_82104@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For years I've always used $10 clear cases from random Amazon brands that come with a screen protector. They have always worked great. And when they get scratched up or yellowed, oh well, another $10.

[–] AHThorny@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ll stick with my $20 spigen case.

[–] InappropriateCanuck@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They're the 2nd highest quality on the market. That's the price of offer/demand when you're one of the strongest on the market. And most importantly the only case company that can personalize a case and still not have the case be garbage.

[–] PretzelsThirst@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Some do, some spend even more than that. I’ll never put a case on my phone

[–] 0192837465sfd@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The stickers peel off after a few months or so. One of the purchases that I definitely regret. It's all about the hype and bandwagon. There are better cases that would actually protect the phone for the same price or lower.

[–] JesusBiscuit420@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You know I be rockin those $1,30 AliExpress cases and 4 for $1 screen protectors

[–] RandomBloke2021@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lol people buy the apple cloth and air pods max. Why are you surprised by this?

[–] wolfenmaara@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think the whole accessories market is whack anyway, basically echoing other comments here. It’s gotta be some sort of theft or scam honestly.

I mean think about it; phones went from plastic to glass and if you shatter it, you gotta pay for the repair or hope that your coverage takes care of the majority; but imagine how many people drop their phones year in and out; 8 million people (just a number) x the lowest amount of money you pay for repairs is A LOT of money. And then on top of that, you have people who pay for cheap and expensive covers, which totally ruins the look of the expensive phone you just got.

I’ve got a 14PM and I use a screen protector but that’s it. If it scratches, it scratches. If the glass back shatters, I’ll probably repair it, but I’ve had zero incidents so far (knock on wood). I’ve never had to worry about butter fingers to be honest. I don’t plan on reselling my phone or trading it back to Apple; I’m not worried about “resale value” or “holding value” or whatever you wanna call it. It boils down to this - I’m done being paranoid about my phone. And I think most people should.

If you can’t handle a glass back phone, I’m sorry, but maybe just buy a cheaper phone. I have a Pixel 3a and a Pixel 6a that I use as backups or for travel. I’m not trying to shame anyone, I’m just saying we should probably collectively try to pump the brakes on this insanity lol for what it’s worth

[–] VXR-Vashrix@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'll say this: Your smartphone ranges from a couple hundred to a couple thousand bucks. You did buy it, $100 in comparison is relatively cheap.

I personally do not mind paying more for the brand if their case quality is good, especially if there is a design/color choice that catches my attention.

[–] ForcedToCreateAc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I find really funny that this conversation exists around the phone universally thought to be overpriced, made by a pretentious company, and regarded as inferior and behind the competition in innovation because it's seen as a fashion item instead of a phone.

I would say that, like owning an iPhone, buying Casetify is reduced to: people like it and can afford it. That's pretty much it.

I do believe they are super overpriced tho, not defending them. But reading all the condescending comments has been truly amusing, haha.

[–] major_works@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For me, Spigen Liquid Air Armor at $15 is plenty. Sure, it's boring but my phone isn't a fashion item. It's a tool.

[–] ses267@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’d rather just pay for apple care and raw dog it.

[–] LicoriceSeasalt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I never understood it. Majority of my cases over the past decade have been $5 AliExpress cases. Never cracked a screen, never got a scratch, they're perfectly fine and paying 20x the price for a brand case is wild to me.

[–] techies137@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was pay even more just because can’t find same silicone case. All I have is worse or too expensive to get

[–] Moath@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think their designs look really nice and it’s super customizable. I think there’s a lack of creative cases and they always work with designers to make cool and unique stuff.

But I don’t know about the durability the first one I bought the logo kind of cracked in the first week.

[–] TacoMedic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So… I buy one every year. Idk, it looks good and make it easy to find when I’m in an environment where everyone’s iPhones are scattered around the place.

[–] Vekxin_Sama92@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Personally I wouldn’t. I cap out at like 70-80 for a case

[–] -K9V@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s just a waste of money. Just buy a case off of eBay for a few dollars.

[–] Darkpurpleskies@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Ringke Onyx case is underrated.

[–] iDarkville@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

While not minimalist enough for my tastes, these seem very aesthetically pleasing. That’s a huge plus.

[–] callmemaybe88@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I also can't understand it so I only bought cases under $30.
