I feel like it’s been quiet for a while. When I got my 13 Pro Max two years ago it’s the first thing I noticed compared to my 6s Plus.

Why don’t companies just make these things optional, I don’t understand forcing random changes on the user base.

Not if I make my custom notification sound deafening.

I use the Sonic Advance 3 Chaos Emerald Get jingle.

That tracks. My notifications are almost always delivered with no sound or vibration. Infuriating.

I have no problem hearing the new sound. I think it’s a much bigger deal that you can no longer choose ringtones for alert sounds or alert sounds for ringtones.

Before they removed them, I was already surprised at how quiet they are. So easy to not hear

Who want's to lay bets they're trying to funnel some more people in to Apple Watch?

The real problem is when you have a mag safe charger and you connect the iPhone, it plays a really loud sound that you cannot change.

I’d just be happy if they could fix it so my apps couldn’t turn up my volume by themselves.

That's the one thing Apple still struggles with in iOS, is customization of the small things like notification sounds, they'll make random changes on their end, but nothing that the users can accept or even revert back on.

Why do only certain apps have customs notification sounds? I would have thought most apps would want a custom sound to stand out from each other, but it seems like only the more popular apps like Snapchat have them. Is it a feature only offered to bigger developers or something?

The vibration is quieter, too. You can't hear if your phone is being called when on Do Not Disturb unless you have an Apple Watch.

I'm just pissed that since updating to 17 the Ringtones alerts etc. all start at the Volume you decided (lets say 100%) and after 2-3 seconds it goes down to like 20-30%.

It should sound the same on my phone. Mine hasn’t made a notification sound since I got it, as the mute button is permanently set.

Yeah I don’t like the new sounds in general. They sound dated and too quiet.

Obviously a bit tongue in cheek as not everyone can afford it, but my phone hasn't made a sound for 7 years and I love it so much.

Also, my colleagues phone blares out We are the Champions EVERU FUCKING TIME it rings and it fucks me off no end, so I think alerts can be selfish AF (whilst I appreciate that people are more concerned re dings than ring tones here)

They changed the vibration too. That weird vibration that felt like a broken toy spring.

But at least you can change that. It was just annoying.

It’s so annoying. I wish you could change the default notification to anything.

I get notifications on my Garmin smartwatch so I’ve never had to hear notification sounds, my phones always on silent. How much quieter to be exact?

I hate it. I miss important notifications because it weirdly turns off notifications for an app if I’m not tapping on it. One example is LinkedIn, I click maybe out of ten recruiter messages and Apple thinks I’m not interested. So they completely muted the notification for me. I now have to check the app regularly because of this.

These sites will literally find the silliest shit to complain about.

It bothers me more that the sound is now a disconnect or hang up sound. It annoys the crap out of me.

In 2023, it seems odd that we can personalize widgets, wallpapers, and lockscreens, yet changing the default notification sound remains not possible. It's even more puzzling that you can customize notification sounds for default apps like reminders and messages. I mean I don’t wanna come off as an Android kid here, but Apple, really?

The new Find My sound is way too low, too.

For how good the hardware is they sure suck at software.
