And nothing bad has ever happened to it. It looks brand new and is always clean. Does anyone not shower with it?

Series 8 have showered with it and timer activated to get moving.

I keep a charger in the bathroom. It's a good time to charge it, since I'm not, like, lifting weights or anything while in there...

[–] montydad5000@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I shower with mine on every day. I only take it off to charge it when I'm chilling in bed at night before I go to sleep (then I put it back on so it can track my sleep).

It’s built for swimming

It’s not built for hot water and soap

[–] SoCalDawg@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t mix my gadgets with steam.. even ‘water resistant’ ones.

[–] Koleckai@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I have never taken mine into the shower. It would feel weird to me. I usually place it on a charger while I am showering.

i think people who want to shower with it on should shower with it on and people who don’t want to shower with it on should not shower with it on

[–] Swankyyyy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Apparently exposure to soap has the potential for degrading the seal over time, so I usually try not to though I have done it at times.

[–] grither88888@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve showered daily, used my hot tub and pool at least daily with my series 4 since I bought it new. Never had an issue but had an unrelated small scratch on the screen

[–] rdhatt@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I do not, only because I have the nylon "Sport Loop" band which stays wet too long for my comfort.

[–] PikaTar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I shower with it 2 out of 3 days. The 3rd day, I put it on the charger for a little bit. The only time I don’t is if I am using a nylon band. It dries quickly but I’d rather not wait and just take it off.

I swim nearly every morning and take long hot showers daily. Have for years. Nothing ever happened to my watch. This comment section is the first time I’ve ever heard people say hot water and shampoo could damage

Yeah I shower with my Apple Watch too, helps me keep track of time (I mean it is a watch lol)

[–] undrcvrpeanutbutter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I do not. I put it on the charger before I shower and then while I dry my hair and by the time I'm ready to go to bed I pop it back on.

[–] RunUpTheHillGD@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I get loud noise notifications

I stopped wearing it

I wear mine in the pool, but charge it when I’m in the shower

[–] zerbey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I know it's IP68 certified, but I still don't take unnecessary risks and being in a hot and steamy environment with other chemicals seems risky to me. If I'm going to be around a bunch of water, the watch stays off my wrist.

[–] melancholy_dood@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I put it on the charger while I’m in the shower.

[–] ludvikskp@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve owned mine for about 3 years and i’m not risking it anymore. The water seal degrades over time. So now I charge it instead

[–] FearIsStrongerDanluv@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just out of curiosity is there anything to measure or any benefit in showering with it? Or you forget you have it on? When do you charge it then?

[–] blastmemer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No but not because of potential damage. The water causes a lot of butt dials and so I ended up singing a lot of songs to my friends (luckily the water didn’t get past the favorites list).

[–] Legitimate_Quote_239@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I shower with mine everyday. Rubber style band so I don’t mind. Plus I’m an electrician and it keeps it clean.

[–] TB2k17@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I usually charge it while I get ready in the morning, but every few days I will shower with it to clean it

[–] iWish_is_taken@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I shower with mine after a mountain bike ride to clean the sweat and grime from the watch and band. So generally a couple times a week.

[–] CheeseheadDave@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Showering is when I take it off to charge it, unless I'm getting back from a really sweaty run, in which case I'll shower with it on to give the band (I almost exclusively wear sport loops) a good soap and rinsing.

[–] Kairismummy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Take mine off to bath/shower because if the soap. But I do swim either it on because it has swim mode!

[–] Zachriaul@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

i shower with my apple watch every day and it's been fine. it always looks clean and brand new. anyone else shower with it?

[–] Fresco2022@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No. In the long run water resistancy will diminish. So, you cannot be sure when something bad does happen.

[–] tkandkatie@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

It irritates my skin when my watch band gets wet. I don’t even wash a few dishes with my watch on. How are y’all full on showering with it on? It doesn’t irritate at all?!

Electricity with water, you know how that goes

[–] fanaticalcraze@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The one thing to watch out for with the shower is at one point Apple had a disclaimer about high pressure water being bad for the internals. But that's like making the Death Star shot successfully.

[–] Centavar83@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

First, as others have written-this is when I charge it. And second (and from experience with my Series 4)-it tends to build up impurities from the minerals and the hardness of the water.

Does Siri still work on it? It doesn’t work on my Series 7 anymore. I don’t even use a case on it.

I wash the Apple Watch after every workout, but I don't shower with it, I take it off and wash it independently.

[–] OttersAreCute215@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I always take my Apple Watch off when I shower.

The soap will ruin it and void warranty

[–] andersostling56@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Every time.

[–] onochie22@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mistakenly washed mine with other clothes in the laundry. It came out nice and clean.

[–] Legitimate-Sky-161@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Mine only comes off to go on the charger or if I’m doing something where it may end up smashed. Ocean, hot tub, shower , rain, snow it still works as it did the day I bought it.

[–] sammy-a123@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You’re living life on the edge. I know they say it’s water resistant but I don’t want to risk it.

[–] owzleee@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I read that soap etc can mess up the sensors so unlike my Tag I never shower with mine. I charge it. 30 mins and we are good for 24 hours and honestly what telemetry is going to be missing?

[–] nth_power@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What watch band do you use? Are some more water proof than others?

[–] JesseRodOfficial@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I used to do it but now I’m afraid it will break lol.

[–] voynaz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Same always have (Ultra and Series 6 in the past)

[–] old_skul@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I have a cloth strap. No thanks.

[–] migsmog@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Shower with mine because it helps me get out the door on time. Also a great time to wash the Watch. I usually charge it in the evenings when I get home from working out after work. I put it back on before bed.
