Case and (glass) screen protector. The phone itself is in perfect condition. The screen protector has scratches. No protection plan or anything like that...

I paid $200 for an iPhone SE about 5 years ago, then put the phatest case I could find and a tempered glass screen protector on it. It's practically in mint condition besides 3 battery replacements, and I can use it one handed!

1. I use a drop-protection case, but no glass-protector. Not really necesarry for me.

2. I have had my phone for close to three years and gone through three or four cases, but it is still in pretty good condition. No scratches or microscrated on the body or screen and no dents.

I always have a case, but no screen protector, the case extrudes enough from the front to protect the screen most of the time.

I used to have a screen protector, but because it adds extra width it went outside the edge of the case and it broke. And honestly I prefer microscratches over trapped dust particles. The only reason I'd put a screen protector on my phone now would be to replenish the oleophobic coating, and I'd do it, it's just that idk which brand I could trust to actually have a good one included.

Pixel 5 with no case, matte screen protector mainly for low friction even on damp fingers, no protection plan (saves money), pristine condition (I don't drop my phone). The only damage it ever gets is poor battery life so I usually get it swapped after a few years. This one I've only had for a year so far but I had the Pixel 2 for 5 years before that and it went through a couple battery replacements. It was still in pristine condition when I had to switch to the 5 because even a fresh install of lineage was giving me "system ui stopped responding" and other buggy junk constantly :(

I use a case. On my previous two phones, I used a screen protector, but nothing happened. So I didn't use one for this. And unfortunately it has a crack on the side now.

I have a Fairphone 3+ with tempered glass and a rubber case. I have a popsocket on the rubbercase which helps prevent any potential drops. No cracks or scratches. In fact, bar a bit of dust it looks almost like the day I got it over 2 years ago.

I highly recommend investing in prolonging your current phone and getting some form of case.

I typically don't use a case or a screen protector. I don't like the bulk a case adds, and no one will ever convince me that screen protectors aren't the biggest placebo-born racket of the digital age. And until very recently I had never gotten the extended warranty or protection plan on a device in my life.

I don't drop my phone. I never put it in a pocket with anything else. If it's not in my hand or my pocket, it's face up in the very center of an end table — never the coffee table, because it might get kicked there when someone puts their feet up. If I leave the room, so does my phone.

I had gone fourteen years without a single incident. I replace my phone when I feel like I'm ready, never because I have to.

Until last month, when my Pixel 6 Pro fell out of my pocket when I knelt down to tie my shoe. I was wearing sweat pants (for the first and now probably last time in my adult life, for the record), and it just... slid out. Couldn't have fallen more than six to eight inches. But it landed on the corner, on a cement sidewalk, and the back just shattered. The screen itself was still pristine (because again, screen protectors are literally pointless), but over the following days I noticed the touchscreen was less responsive due to internal damage from the drop. I was devastated.

I now have the Pixel 7 Pro. It's in a bog standard $35 clear plastic case and I bought the $9/month protection plan this time... but we'll see how long either of them last.

I have an exuberant 3 year old, my phone has taken a couple of flights off the second floor balcony. Otterbox and screen protector, no scratches!

Nope, none of that. Pristine condition. Never needed any of it for any of my smartphones.

Case but no screen protector for me.

I always use the same cheap black TPU Spigen cases with raised edges to protect the screen from drops on my phones, sometimes Android sometimes iPhone. No screen protector, no plan, no scratches. I have had mobile phones since the Nokia 2110 and never cracked a screen or had dents. There's been a scratch a few times but most often not.

Case only

Basic silicone case, no screen protector, no damage. Have dropped it enough times over the 9 months I've owned it that I'm rather impressed by the complete lack of damage.

I stopped using a case a few years ago since they always felt too bulky.

I just started going without a screen protector a few weeks ago too since I hardly drop my phone and when I have, a screen protector wouldn't have saved me from the small damage it inflicted.

Aside from a little paint scratched off from a corner (phone flew out of my pocket when I jumped while wearing some baggy shorts a few months ago), it's been going great. 👍

No protection plan or extended warranty or anything of that sort.

I worked for the mobile industry for 6 years. This is how I roll. Strong, thick case for my phone. Doesn’t need to be name brand but a decent quality. If the cases claim they are waterproof put a paper towel inside the case and spray it with water. Make sure the towel stays dry. If you really want to be sure, put it in a sink full of water overnight with a cup on it to hold it to the bottom.

I’ve found glass screen protectors to be useless as long as you don’t have a bunch of crap in your pocket with your phone. I also don’t have any insurance on my device. Most modern glass is very scratch resistant even if you’re a bit harder on your devices than average users.

Most phone you buy new are vastly overpriced. So unless it has a feature you can’t live without. I always buy 2nd hand phones that are about two years older than the current year. Fair price, most bugs are worked out at that point and most issues have been discussed about that device on various forums. Also it may be jailbroken already if that’s something you’re into.

I use a case, one that also protects the face with high edges, also a screen protector, the hard perspex type. Well worth protecting your investment.

I use a cheap android phone (<$120 when I bought it 3 years ago). I protect it with cheap case + Hydrogel screen protector. I'm satisfied with Hydrogel type screen protector as it still on good condition even after my phone falls screenfirst many times. There are many scratches right now on the screen protector, but it still usable and not annoying as most scratches located on the edge of screen. Most of them caused by falling sceenfirst to gravel ground and asphalt several times.. lol.

I use a screen protector and case. I tend to drop and scratch phones so it's for the best. No protection plan though. I should replace the screen protector as it started peeling on one corner a few months back.

Yes, I own a case and glass screen protector. I went without a screen protector with an old Pixel and ended up with quite a few microscratches that drove me nuts. A friend of mine used a case but no screen protector on his iPhone and I don't know how he does it. I'd be constantly worried about scratches.

I use a case since I dropped it and the back (glass) is cracked. Because I don't want to risk cutting my hand, I'm using the case that came with the phone.

Still no screenprotector though. There are some micro scratches, but no visible damage when using it.

3.5+ year old phone. No phone specific insurance either.

cheap case (no front cover), stock (came pre-applied) screen protector thats scratched to hell from my nails swiping across it. thats it, no cracks or other damages except miniscule (like 0.5mm) chips in three of the corners from dropping it constantly.
