Day 29/70: First day of week 5 weigh-in.
Down 1.1kg. The novelty has worn off, it's getting hard to stay motivated. 10 weeks didn't sound that long but I'm not even half way.

Severely underdressed for this wind on the way back and kicking myself for not at least wearing a light coat. Ya got me, Melbourne. Three weeks away and I lost my senses...

Sunday night cooking, with a glass of wine, and ABC jazz whilst the kids laugh playing Minecraft together. Nice

My bolognese sauce tonight was a little too acidic so I googled it and added a little bit of butter as a remedy. Fixed it right up. And so delicious too. 🤤

So I thought I'd share some more home cleaning tips.

First up if you don't have one of these in your sink, get some. Cheap from the $2 shops.

drain strainer metal thingo

It'll help stop drains from getting blocked. If it gets stained due to coffee or whatever give it a scrub with barkeeper friend or my friend Gumption.

Never ever ever spray cleaner on vertical surfaces. Some leave streak marks that are incredibly hard to shift. Instead spray on to a cloth, wipe over stain, leave for a minute and wipe back over. Watch the miracle happen. Particularly good for cupboards, walls, picture frames, windows.

For TV's you do something similar. First gently dust the screen with a microfibre. Then wet a lenses cloth with water making sure you ring it out well. Wipe over the screen then go over it again with a dry lenses cloth. Make sure the water doesn't dry naturally on the screen otherwise you might end up with marks. Make sure you do this before you turn the TV on.

A hundred-garlic lamb roast is now safely ensconced in the crock pot for tonight. Only 5 hours to endure the fragrance wafting through the house, and the neighborhood.

[–] 6368_39162@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What time should we turn up?

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You mean like 100 cloves?!

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago

About 3 heads worth. Maybe not eggsackly 100 ... The recipe is adapted from the hundred garlic chicken one.

For anyone wondering if the white flutterby they are looking at is in the cabbage destruction gang, I found a guide showing how they are differrent from native butterflies.

And the moths are not pretty.

I'm barrelling through s2 of Mr Inbetween but when I say that I need some time to reflect between episodes, it's such an unusual show... Action x character study. The direction and cinematography take it to another level with the suspense

I've been eating like shit for the last couple of months. Uber eats every night, mostly pizza.

Had chicken and veggies tonight and I feel fucking amazing!

At the p's place finally convinced them to put grip tape on the wooden stairs (3 flights up to the second story). Over the years I'd say I've stacked about 30 times going down them (basically your feet slip forward and you're on your arse). Kinda wish I had a little video compilation of all of those moments.

When I was staying over the other night it happened again but I was holding a glass of wine. No one will believe me but I only lost about a 1/3rd of it which I thought was really impressive.

Going to see the FNAF movie with the Minipeelers today. Looking forward to it!

Up way too early courtesy of cashews… I should not have put the water they soaked in, back in. Oh well, live and learn. I have been surprisingly productive this morning, although my eyes now hate me. I have also enrolled in T1 subjects which has also caused me to pity future me. Like I want this, but also am just not in the headspace to enjoy the journey, which completely sucks since the feeling has literally been going on since the start. But, life, privilege, yah, yah, yah…

Hope we are all having a nice Sunday morning thus far and those still sleeping, I envy you.

Decided to hit the bellarine to give the chilli patch a bit of love and someone pulled out my 4 yr old Jalapeño plant :(

It was still good just being overwintered.

RIP little chillo.. we had some good times together mainly in wraps, on pizzas and chicken borgers.

Will have to get a replacement.

I had a full gardening day today. Lots of planting done - it is great having the new garden beds, I feel like I actually have enough space to plant everything. I planted lots of brassicas in defiance of the butterflies.

Ok time to get out of bed. I shall make avo on toast for brekkie. Brb.

Made a stupid decision and looked at the other sites discussions about The Marvels, and some reviews.

I saw it yesterday and honestly it was excellent. Just a really fun, wholesome time, with some great thematic meaning and really great acting. Some of the storytelling was a tad gnaff, but Mario had no plot and Avatar 2 was the same plot repeated four times for three hours. These things are okay, yet The Marvels is being torn apart for no discernible reason.

That's enough Internet for me for one day. Some days I worry about the Internet as a whole; it's so angry at everything and completely opposed to things being just...decent? Everything either has to be "the very best ever" or it's the worst thing ever and needs to die.

Back to finishing my degree I guess

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago

I hate to betray my one time brethren/cousins like this, being an ex weeb, but some fandoms have taken the cultural acceptance/mainstreaming of their medium over the last 10 years as a licence to be 40 year old jerks controlling the narrative

[–] baconmash@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I think some parts of the internet are just angry at any Marvel movies now. I like this one precisely because I'm just there to turn my brain off, have fun, and awwww at the kitties. Felt like Barbie but without the moralizing. It's a breath of fresh air from the THE WORLD IS ENDING marvel after Endgame because the world is not going to end any harder than half the population dead.

Had vague plans of doing a beachwalk this morning, but I remembered traffic signs all over saying Beach Rd would be closed today (presumably for a fun run or similar).
Eh well. Snuggled in bed with the cats and will have a nice chill day today.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It's been a big day and I'm tempted to go to bed early. But I put up some lights and need to wait until it is dark enough for them to turn on so I can see how they look.

Edit: lights pretty. Am now in bed.

urgh I had a sleeping tablet last night and it ruined my entire Sunday. Trying to fight off napping and I slept all the way until nearly midday.

Wow, where did Saturday night go? Finished watching the Milli Vanilli documentary. Really quite sad, but so nice to see Fabrice’s life after.

Massage done. Not very satisfied. Like 4/10.

Has anyone gotten a massage from one of the Uni clinics? I have another one booked in for this week at Victoria Uni's clinic. Is cheap, like $25 cheap and hopefully it's an actual physio (or student in training) massaging so they can get the right spots!
