Happy with that. Norris in a well deserved 2nd. And 2 Brits on the podium.

[–] Purr@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well deserved indeed. I'm so happy for him and Piastri right now.

[–] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

I was skeptical but I'm really glad the hards ended up being the right call for Lando

[–] mannycalavera 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Very happy for Lando! What a drive.

[–] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Really impressive drive from Oscar too. I think he would have gotten 3rd if he pitted under the full safety car instead of the VSC

Max was Max, Norris was brilliant, Hamilton drove well (and got some luck), Piastri was great, Perez again finished behind slower cars, Stroll needs to go.

I just want to say how great the growth of content and conversation has been here in just a few weeks. Let's see what the McCedes can do.

Um, wtf, hards for Norris?

Damn. Stroll hitting Gasly was very unnecessary.

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Really understating it here. Stroll's driven quite poorly today in general, to be honest, so I can't say I'm entirely shocked.

I’m impressed the Mclarens have been able to keep up with the Red Bull so far

[–] Morningcoffee@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Verstappen watching TV again

Edit: while doing a fastest lap, lol

[–] Belseb@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Great defense from Norris and Piastri, didnt think they would keep the mercedes behind them.

[–] Purr@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm gonna need a replay of Norris' defence against Hamilton. That was imo the best racing we got this year so far.

[–] Belseb@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yea that first lap after the safety car was amazing.

[–] dimspace@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (7 children)

I just don't understand why McLaren put Norris and Piastri on hard tyres.

Even split strategies surely after seeing how long George lasted on softs

I can't believe how good Lando is defending himself against Hamilton... Impressive!

[–] BURN@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Norris is driving like a madman out there and it’s so much fun to watch

McLaren just giving it to Hamilton I'm afraid

I don't think giving McLarens hard tires is a good idea... They're trying to play it too safe.

[–] narc0tic_bird@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I'm gonna be so sad if Norris gets overtaken by all the soft runners...whyyyy

Norris sounds pissed, and I can't say I blame him. What the fuck were McLaren thinking?

[–] Morningcoffee@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

McLaren seems comfortably quicker than Ferrari right now

I think there needs to be a rework for the penalties. You look at WEC and a penalty seriously stings. Drive-throughs costing 30 seconds, S&G being 60s. What do we get, 5s for taking a driver out? The penalties are anemic

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

As is, the penalties are clearly not a deterrent to possibly dangerous conduct. That's got to change.

Really strong defending from Alonso there considering how bad the Aston were here today.

[–] WhiteHawk@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Missing: the fastest lap indicator

Well done, Lando! What a race!

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah...Lance will be picking up a penalty here.

first time following race comments on lemmy! look forward to it

Piastri is the new Invisible Man. Sitting casually in 4th as a rookie and nobody is even talking about him!

Hamilton's tyres are cooked now, Oscar needs to push.

[–] HungoverRabbit@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

Jeez, wtf is that Damian?

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Holy shit Alpine double DNF

[–] BURN@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Perez on softs?

Sainz fastest on hards?

Saxophone during God Save the King?

It’s been a GP of questions so far

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (3 children)

How the hell has Russell made the softs last this long?
