My friend had a baby last week and this week her appendix burst. No bueno. I'm making some meals to take to her fam; I've got a veg lasagne, meat sauce (to have with pasta or rice, or add beans and it's a chilli, burritos, etc.), and a pesto chicken pasta bake. Do you think that's a good spread? They have three boys (plus the beb).
Sounds pretty comprehensive. Maybe a Hello Fresh or Funky Food subscription or similar for a month to take the pain out of shopping might be a nice idea if within your budget. I think it more likely that your friend will need someone to run the washing machine and/or dishwasher every couple of days - time means more than money when you're stretched to the limit.
She has her husband at home for another month or two which will be a huge help, and her boys are old enough to help out (late primary/early high school). She's just asked for meals so far; I'm pretty sure there's a few of us doing it so they should be covered for a good while.
Day 22/70: First day of week 4 weigh-in.
Down 1.2kg. I weakened a couple of times this week and had chocolate and licorice. Nice that it hasn't killed my progress.
Urgh. Iโm struggling with a sense of hopelessness. I try to help others but canโt seem to even help myself.
Iโm trying Moobeans on the new food to see if it can go in the rotation. Sheโs happily eating it and Iโm glad to see it contains supplemental choline and taurine as well as โvitaminsโ.
I still need to monitor her sensitive tummy and check out some finer details on salt/ash levels as itโs a cheap home brand which can have a poor track record and I otherwise wouldnโt buy. (Iโm hoping that itโs one of the times the dry food is trash but the wet food is passable.)
Iโm kind of leaving my plants to do their thing with the occasional Seasol/water. Waiting to see if the spinach comes good or if damping off claims them all.
Sounds like you are doing good by Moobeans and your plants. That's enough. It really is. Big hugs.

So I did something a bit bad this morning. An old dude was in the car wash bay before me. He only gave his car a rinse with the hose, then he hit stop and left. I drove in and saw it said he still had like $8 credit left so I was like "score" and started washing my car thinking he just overloaded it.
Then as I finished I thought that $8 seemed to go a long way then noticed it hadn't stopped and it had kept adding time. After reading the sign it turns out the 'credit' was a $15 credit card hold and you can stop it anytime before that using the stop button on the card reader (not the stop button he used on the wash options) and it'll just charge you for the time you used with a minimum of $5. I hit the correct stop button so he wouldn't have his card drained but the damage was done.
So he ended up paying $16 to rinse his car and also wash mine...
You know those days when you think "this is fine" then you realise you have spent 20 mins spiralling about what to wear this afternoon when one of your besties (who has seen you at your best and worst and doesn't care) is dropping in for a casual hello (so you don't even have to go out)...
...and you realise you have been in a low key panic attack over nothing most of the day you just didn't connect ... ๐
Off to have shower and a cuppa and try to reset.
Well, I shanโt complain about this
I made it home. The fairy bread was a HUGE hit. All the kids are adorable . I'm beat an going to bed.
love you all ๐
busy day, bbq with the the nice part of the fam ๐ the little kids are sweet too
Bug killing done for the day. Thought Warrandyte would be a bit busier, but given there more than 30mins wait for food, I guess it probably was.
Going to try to make the most of the afternoon, but Iโve already inhaled nasal spray twice on top of everything else I do to ward off hayfever.
Hope youโre all having a good day wherever you are. โจ
Is everyone else getting lots of social media ads encouraging them to join ASIO or am I being targeted? ๐คฃ
I don't get social media ads so no ๐ For once it'd be ads for something I'd be interested in!
I will say it is an improvement on all the ads for wills and pre-paid funerals I was being flooded with a while ago. I guess they decided they have some life left in me yet.
I bought some mini custard tarts from coles and they were shit. No custard taste, just loaded with sugar. Fucking disgraceful at $5.50 for 6. Disappointment is real. ๐
So disappointing! All the stuff from colesworth bakeries have gotten stingier to the point where I'm pissed off at it all. All those profits and you couldn't put a tiny bit more filling in the lemon curd tart or mini chocolate croissants! It wouldn't kill them to do more of the rhubarb and apple fruit mince pies I got addicted to before they filled whole sections of the bakery with their usual shitty fruit mince pies with waxy pastry. Bastards.
Yeah quality has gone down hill lately. I'm only gonna buy the basics from these turds now.

Having a couple of nibblies with a g&t while watching the cricket.
My assignment is due in a couple of hours, and I still have not finished. Most of the way there, but I need to do some serious editing. Unfortunately the caffeine from my extra coffee earlier is wearing off.
Edit: OK, I'm done. I have exceeded the word limit with reckless abandon, but I just can't brain any more tonight.
Just shaved my full beard to make my moustache it's own separate thing for Movember. Will see how it ends up by the end of the month ใฐ๏ธ
Last full day here. Time to stock up on Prima LaMian which, in case you didn't know, is the best instant noodles of all time. Of all time! (and expensive, but still like half the price here - $9 for 4 packs on special). Laksa is the all time classic, but I think I'll also get the curry noodles, fish soup and black pepper crab. These instant noodles (and in a pinch, the nissin black garlic ones) are one of my very few exceptions to the avoid-palm-oil rule.
Recently bought some new Sheet Society sheets, and holy hell has the quality dipped! Maybe I just got a shit batch, but I will not be spending that much again to find out.
Super bummed because I love my old washed cotton set, they were warm in the winter and cool in summer. This new one is just thin, see-through, and doesn't feel at all like washed cotton.
Hey DT, when would you say is a better time of the year to buy a used car - leading up to or just after Xmas? (Nov vs Jan) I told myself I'll wait til next year but the itch to get behind the wheel is building. (Along with the irrational urge to end my lease and throw everything into a storage unit and head off to wherever... ... Not that I have that much money...)
Silly question: so recommended daily intake is 8700kj. Is that 8700kj energy at 0 activity or moderate amount of activity throughout the day?
So if say I do 15k steps + some sports, what should my intake be?
It depends on the sports. 1 hour of running that keeps my heart up around 165-170bpm nets me up to around 4,000 extra kilojoules. A 25 minute commute to work at around 130bpm Gives me 1,000 extra kilojoules.
The daily 8700 thing seems to account for about 7,500 daily steps. I don't budget my kilojoules close to whatever I get from just steps, but it isn't a lot. Maybe 100 extra kilojoules per 1,000 steps?
These numbers also change depending on age, weight, gender and height. So your numbers while being in the same ballpark will not be the same as mine.

"Taylah". Why do people boganise the spelling of names? It's gross. This is grounds to disown parents.
Drank wayyy too much last night. Lots of fun, but yeah, a bit less next weekend.
