More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Man who publicly restricts his freedom has his freedom publicly restricted.

On a more serious note though: why is sharing his name and face necessary or even allowed? Seems like it'll result in consequences greater than what the court has deemed appropriate to dole out.

I agree. The UK is usually pretty robust about name suppression. Maybe he wasn't powerful enough.

The earlier story linked makes him sound vulnerable:

Hunt also told the court on the two nights he had been seen on the side of the road he had wanted to kill himself by being hit by a car.

"It never entered my head that what I was doing was frightening people," he said.

"I apologise to those people - I agree what I was doing was frightening but hand on my heart I never intended to cause them harassment, alarm or distress."

I think it's probably more the part where he jumps out in front of their cars on a lonely road at night that got him in trouble.

Now you know how we feel about deer in much of the US. Like ambulatory, suicidal road barriers.

Deer in gimp suits does sound like something from a horror movie.

This is only fair if they find the most dullest person in England and make him/her take over for the next 5 years. I do have a suggestion

Among the restrictions, Hunt, of Claverham, North Somerset is banned from wearing "black all-in-one garments" or "any combination... which has the appearance of an all-in-one garment" in public between 9pm and 6am.

It was an end to the nocturnal activities of the black-clad Somerset Gimp, but a beginning to the crepuscular expeditions of the dark-gray-wearing Somerset Rainy Afternoon Gimp.

He's been at it for five years - the Essex Gimp last year was complaing about the bad reputation the Somerset Gimp was bringing to the gimp community

The problem here is clearly the disturbingly low barrier to entry to gimphood, and its single, shared status. The reputation of a hypothetical Honorable Brotherhood of Essex Gimps wouldn't be besmirched by the appalling behavior of some Somerset rogue.

The national gimp council may never again be taken seriously if it cannot quell internecine conflict between its regional factions

Then he'll probably has to use GIMP now. Well, that's also a nice hobby.

Restrictions have also been placed on his computer use and access to the internet.

Guess he will have to stick to Photoshop 🤨

Restrictions have also been placed on his computer use and access to the internet.

Imposing the order, District Judge Joanna Dickens said: "A sexual risk order is quite a serious order, and it has a lot of obligations of you and if you breach this order you can go to prison.

When asked about the need for restrictions on Internet access, Judge Joanna Dickens clarified that Hunt "definitely had the look of someone who was likely to main Voldo".

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A district judge imposed the restrictions, following a hearing at Bristol Magistrates' Court, just a week after Hunt was convicted of two offences under the Public Order Act of intentionally causing harassment, alarm or distress.

Last week's hearing heard how a man in an all-black gimp suit had terrified two female motorists in May this year in Bleadon, near Weston-super-Mare.

It was the latest in a series of incidents where a man in skin-tight dark clothing was seen writhing on the ground and stepping out in front of cars in remote locations across Somerset since 2018.

The court previously heard that witnesses to an incident in October last year said they saw a man wearing a gimp suit who grabbed his penis over the top of his clothing and also "gyrated against the floor".

Lawrence Wilcox, representing Avon and Somerset Police, told the hearing that Hunt had been linked to 25 incidents in total.
