This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.

Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

Cost of online purchasing is going to rise if this happens, are you all looking locally more often? When in the face of reduction to complex society, I feel like it's a good habit to get in to. I still buy things I just can't get locally online, but I feel like that instant gratification machine is going to end soon... Or at least be too expensive to be worth it anymore.

I am willing to pay a higher price so workers can get paid fairly BUT

corporations are posting record profits right now and some have been doing so for years. If shareholders and execs were less greedy and split the profits fairly with workers, there wouldn’t be a issue like this.

The idea that number must always go up needs to go out of fashion. There’s nothing wrong with a steady-state business. Not to mention, infinite growth on a planet with finite resources is literally impossible.
