Now all I can imagine is sysadmins walking around with comically large cans of compressed air on their belts to deal with this mess.

We have a mini compressor ;)

What happens when sand gets in the compressor, though?

Would compressed air or a dust buster be better for this? Or both?

I've installed service at a couple nut shelleries and holy shit. I was surprised they still worked at all, everything was covered in basically saw dust.
