A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

MODERATORS

The admins of your logged-in instance can delete any post of yours they want. This is not us doing it. The Lemmy UI is pretty bad at showing this. On some servers, an admins actions are listed as "mod" in the modlog even though we didn't do it.

It's nice to know this community makes them bigmad.

I'm doing my part o7

Basically just post from Shitjustworks because our administration isn't full of Tankies and/or Antisemitic assholes (looking at Lemmyworld and Lemmyml)

We need the name of the one taking actions in the modlog, just "mod" and "admin" isn't enough.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

They will just do what reddit mods did and create a "ServerMod" account with full rights.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would be good to know which instance is doing this at the very least, so we know who to avoid.

[–] fluke@snake.substantialplumbing.repair 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Like if somebody kept a list of instances that are not cool or something?

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah, just a list of who has a habit of taking posts down that don't align with their views.

I mean that would be OK, you can just avoid using those communities for that practice... Or the instances just not allowing such accounts...

We need transparency, especially regarding such things.

I'd rate lemm.ee over SJW. Best admin ever!

Are they tankies as well?!? I thought it was the same admin as on mastodon.world

@nuke

[–] CookieJarObserver@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Idk about mastodon but a look at their modlog tells a story...

[–] petrescatraian@libranet.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

@CookieJarObserver Damn, well now I'm no longer mad that my server is blocking both .ml and .world, lol (even though it's doing it for reasons other than politics).

Yeah i personally blocked the domains in my app (connect) so i don't see all the tankies, Shitjustworks blocks almost nothing, i hope lemmy itself adds a option to block entire instances on user level.

Furthermore im for the destruction of .world as its literally to big with over 1/3 of lemmys users. It becomes a walled garden like reddit, literally becomes the thing it swore to destroy. (with even more spongy TOS and questionable legal status (especially in EU ))

[–] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I'm on lemm.ee, considering they haven't defederate with them how risky am I?

[–] JoYo@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago

we need more and smaller instances across the fediverse.

self hosting gotosocial is stupid simple.

Quick meta question, my account is on the sh.itjust.works instance and I’m subscribed to Noncredibledefense, but even though posts from here get tons of upvotes I never see it on my “all” page. Is there a setting I have messed up? Thanks!

[–] imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago

Maybe try sorting by new or top 6 hours while viewing all. Then scroll all the way through and see if this post appears.

It's possible that other communities are simply more upvoted and active, if you're sorting by active or top day. NCD is medium size, it could definitely be drowned out when viewing all. I always view subscribed so I'm not sure.

MichelleG dunnit. Good luck getting in contact with Ernest to have this removed, nerd. He’s wonderful and severely overworked, and I sincerely wish him all the best.
