Well I have some fake grass coming tomorrow that I more or less measured for with a tape measure so I'm hoping to not experience this!
DIY
A place to discuss UK-centric DIY. No sheetrock or drywall.
Wikipedia details DIY as a form of anti-consumerism, ain't that something.
Useful places to learn things: (taking suggestions!)
A UK how-to and forum site. People tend to argue a bit, but a good place to get an idea.
Useful places to buy things:
https://www.toolstation.com https://www.screwfix.com/
Wide range of tools and fixings, shop format is like Argos. Always worth comparing prices between them. Don't sell lumber.
https://diy.com https://www.wickes.co.uk/
B&Q and Wickes. Often more expensive than TS/SF, but carries lumber and garden supplies too.
Wickes deals can bring prices in line with builders merchants.
Watch out with B&Q's website, as they do that thing like amazon, where people sell through them (often overpriced)
In my world, the day before the grass arrived I would suddenly discover that I needed to do another 3 days of work preparing the ground. Then I'd be stuck with rolls of it sat in the living room for a month!
I just had a wing it moment this afternoon...
I took my drone to go capture some footage of the flying Scotsman. It took ages leaving the station and I was on 10% as it crossed the bridge. Well I made no calculations at all and took a gamble.
Long story short I ended up climbing a large tree not much later.
When I used to fly the quadcopter, I often considered whether a very long piece of string tied to the feet would make my life easier.
