I don't think there is a way currently.
Jerboa
Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.
Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

I haven't figured this out either, there might not be a way to do it at all within the app. Hopefully that will come in a new update because it's really annoying when I see a link for a community I want to subscribe to and I just want to stay in the app!
I don't know if this is the same issue, but when I click on a link to a community in a post, Jerboa auto closes and I need to reopen
I've experienced the same. Click link, app closes/crashes to my home screen.
@Generator@lemmy.pt supplied links to issues on GitHub about this in this comment.
Edit: Ironically, the link opens in Firefox for me :D
Edit2: I don't know how to tag users, apparently.
This is still being worked on in the official UI. I think you should check whether it is registered on the Jerboa repository.
