Well…not sure if I count. I’m a bass dep for a Status Quo tribute band - but I play guitar 99% of the time outside of that. If you count the number of ‘different’ bass notes I actually play over time, it’s not very many..!
Bass
Electric, acoustic, upright, and otherwise. Not the fish
Heh, sometimes less is more. How often do you get to gig on the bass?
It’s dried up a lot recently but a while back it was about 30 weekends per year.
That's pretty good for a dep position!
Yeah, the main dude was in a proper band and was very busy for a while. Since Covid, it’s dropped off somewhat, he needs all the gigs he can get these days.
No longer playing in bands but yep I've been playing for a long time
Cool, what sort of stuff do you like to play?
I played in metal bands in my teens and 20s. Nothing worth noting, but it got my chops into shape. Then I did a bit of pro work while I was attending a music college. Nowadays I play a lot less of the technical stuff and just noodle on whatever tunes my friends might be jamming.
How about you?
I've been playing for about 25 years. Started off in various bands making original rock and pop music for fun, generally to little recognition. In more recent years I've been playing in covers bands, and it's nice to be playing music that people sing and dance along to.
Yup! 80s Metal covers and Alt Rock originals
Cool, are you having any luck with the originals band?
Been trying for about 10 years now. This lineup seems very promising though, a good vibe about all of them.
